In practice this means that you get the same content farm answer dressed up as a trustworthy answer without even getting the opportunity to exercise better judgement. God help you if you rely on them for questions about branded products, they happily rephrase the company's marketing materials as facts.

A counter example to this is that I asked it about NovaMin® 5 minutes ago and it essentially told me to not bother and buy whatever toothpaste has >1450 ppm fluoride.

Have you looked at svelte 5 yet? Still happy with Svelte?

I've just spent past week building a medium complex web app for editing configs at $work, so I can chime on this.

Having worked with earlier versions of sveltekit in the past, I have to say the new reactivity system is not that bad and pretty easy to wrap your head around. Once you're used to the runes (there's like 4 you have to remember) you can just focus on building stuff and it's really quite a pleasant and productive dev experience. I've gotten multiple compliments from people about the speed and quality I was able to deliver this with and that's in large part due to sveltekit.

I do have to give a shout out to good ol' bootstrap for allowing me to build something that looks good, works on mobile and is just easy.

> Gas prices are double or even triple what they are in the US. It’s ok, the economy isn’t collapsing.

The Economist about Germany's economy: "a national business model build in part on cheap energy from one autocracy and abundant demand from another (China) faces a severe test". Combine the cutting off from Russian gas with shutting down all nuclear power plants, and you do have something like a collapse of the economy, at least a significant decline in its industrial output.

Pepe1vo · a year ago
While the factors you mention may (or may not) cause Germany to dip into a recession in the near future, calling it a "collapse of the economy" is of course gross hyperbole. Boom and bust cycles are an expected and well studied feature of developed economies.

Is there an advantage to doing this versus using something like ncc to just package everything into a single js file with zero dependencies?

My only problem with this is the good content on the internet like good YouTube videos explaining to you how the world and things work.

If i could have a good filter which really can control my internet usage without giving away my privacy that would be awesome.

But no first of, everything goes through chrome and i do not trust random addons, i can also circumvent it too easily. Then even services like YouTube introduced there shorts. Do i watch them? Sometimes. Do i want to watch them? no

Can i deactivate them? no..

I will continue paying for YouTube premium! But pls give me a personal pseudo budget and not some ass weak timer i can just click away...

Pepe1vo · a year ago
> Can i deactivate them? no..

Sure you can, just click the "x" on the top right of the shorts row and they will be gone. Though, you might have to re-hide them every x days, but still if you don't want to watch them you really don't have to.

This is just AI generated blogspam. The real meat appears to be on [0], but it's behind a paywall which none of the archivers appear to have circumvented. Really unfortunate, because the content looked highly interesting!

A bit off-topic, but what's the best method to build cross-platform mobile & web apps nowadays ? I'm talking either business logic + UI , or just business logic ?

like gomobile, rust, typescript, etc ?

At some point i thought about using typescript for all business logic, as it seemed the most portable tech, but i realized there's no good way to have decent performance running javascript on iOS.

Pepe1vo · 2 years ago
What's your definition of decent performance?

My company has built quite a few complex capacitor + Angular + Ionic apps and the performance on iOS is fine. Some even got featured by Apple, so that should be some indication that quality and performance was alright.

Anecdotal but can confirm that my Asian dad smokes a pack a day, with the window open, and it pretty much permeates the apartment, and we've all had issues with lung health. There's no doubt in my mind this is a huge factor.

Sidenote but I haven't missed my father since I left home. Traditional old Asian men are possibly the worst humans ever.

> Traditional old Asian men are possibly the worst humans ever.

That's, uh, quite a strong statement. What makes them worse than all the other humans?

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I poop, on company time.
Pepe1vo · 2 years ago
That was a rhyme from a simpler time. Now the boss makes a grand and I make a buck. So, let's steal the catalytic converter from the company truck.
