Femolo commented on Frank Smith was locked up for 8 decades. At 98, what would it mean to be free?   bostonglobe.com/2023/07/0... · Posted by u/thunderbong

I’m a fan of the death penalty for really egregious cases, given a hypothetical perfect Justice system. Some people are not worth trying to rehabilitate. However, the Justice system is flawed and a decent percentage of people who get the death penalty are innocent. So what do you do? I’d rather they be locked up for the rest of their natural lives, barring a change in evidence or technology that leads to a change in sentence. But I don’t want some remorseless psychopath back in society because they’ve reached the limit on how long we can hold them.

I'm against it as I do believe that we are not just the result of our own free will free of anything but a result of our environment, luck etc.

I'm lucky that I had parents which gave me behavior patterns which do not make me kill or rape others.

And even if someone believes they are right, they are actually right just no in the moral and ethical sphere of a majority.

I don't like rape and in my world it's wrong. But that doesn't change their world view. And I don't kill him due to this because why would I be allowed to end the life of someone else?

The best I can do is to remove this person from the society.

It's easy to kill and hard not to.

And in the worst case scenario I would kill someone who hurts or killed a close person (perhaps) but I would need to accept the consequences of it.

They can't control the black market in drugs, what makes them think controlling a black market in cash, which is a million times more desirable, will be any more successful? There's the small matter of millions of undocumented migrants entering Europe who will be trapped in this now-illegal-cash underclass, and these financial oppression laws just incentivise and create criminal networks to facilitate basic economy. This is financial oppression that totally demoralizes their society as a means to dissolve it.

It's not a lot of money, and given inflation, diminishingly so. This is targeted at law abiding smallholding farmers where roadside transactions are often done in cash and farmers everywhere have a lot of tax relief precisely because they provide food security for nations - and it's to the benefit of criminal networks to top it off. The architects of this policy are disgusting.

Without a law you can't enforce it.

The results will be known sooner or later.

Off topic: This is a great example why github stars don’t mean anything, such a great tool like this is ~600 while other repos that are basically toys compared to this have ~12k stars!

I do my zfs snapshots with a few lines of script with what zfs offers out of the box.

I like this script but never heard from it and probably will not look at it for a while.

DM?
Femolo · 2 years ago
To be more precise: you know when you just write someone a direct message because they can just answer it?

If I have a proper knowledge base I would assume these DMs will no longer be necessary OR they will be incorporated into the AI.

> Our current financial system has issues, but the best system for 99%+ of people.

I have to violently disagree with that statement.

For a good chunk of people (> 10%), the current system is a vampire on the efforts of people, draining them via transfer fees, account fees, overdraft fees & whatever new fee they can come up with today. Their failures are bailed out because "tHeY'rE tOo BiG tO fAiL", influencing politicians into using the funds of the State to give themselves a pillow to land on. They deem themselves to be above the effects of "the hand of the market" that everyone else has to go through. Screw that: They must be able to fail like the rest of us, with no soft landing given to them when they do so.

Those fees pay for all the services people need.

Account recovery, fraud detection, ATMs everywhere, etc.

Log everything as Json!

We need to start making Json viewer were we look into log files without tooling the default.

It's so much easier to use Json automatically and ship them to systems out of the box.

Linux logging should do that too. Not just container in k8s

We are closer and closer to a post DM society.

ADR, supportdocs will be king.

And we are finally seeing a new area of real knowledge work.

Soon it will be easier to train ai than new people.

Make a well researched course on hair loss, then sell it via udemy.

Also I am balding and I hate it, I wish I could have kept my hair

Femolo · 2 years ago
I think full hair looks better but hey no one really cares how you look anyway.

I honestly think you should try reduce your cost (is the GPU so expensive?) And just keep it as it is.

Everything besides hair transplantation is snake oil and even promoting hair transplantation means supporting the notion that this is something someone needs to fix.

You really want to underline this notion by providing target ads?

But yes referral link to such doctors might be perfect.
