Marvel is Disney.

Any list like this will have omissions, but yeah, Gattaca is great. Primer should be there, too.
Aeronwen · 4 years ago
I don't think Primer is something everyone should watch. There's a specific audience for that movie and most people aren't in it.

If a ‘Type III’ civilization is meaningful it could be one that uses a quasar the way we use a star.

They should harness it's energy instead.

It is really unfortunate that I use DDG simply because it is the least worst of the bunch, not because its terribly good.

I'd feel worse about it, but I've been using Firefox for the same reason for ages.

Maybe now it will be called "Operation Clippy", who knows?

However I wonder what the actual value now would be. They would get some inside info on some technology but it would be very far from the tech they got from WvB after WW2

They're in a position to slow progress as well as steal information.

Nothing for Gettysburg? Really? I am certain there are many books set in Gettysburg.

We will desalinate in CA before we’ll come for the Great Lakes but if we came (and the United States must have ended) then that would be a petty resistance. Pipelines can’t be defended but canals are harder to break and then, once the pipeline is over friendly soil, breaking it will still only shed water into the West.

If you want to build the midwest a new sewer system, go ahead.

This is like building a motorcycle on a 350cid v8 engine. Lovely absurd insanity.

Don't watch to much youtube...freebsd dev's have the approach: The best tool for the task, hence zfs for saving data ;)
Aeronwen · 4 years ago
I quit using ZFS when FreeBSD managed to somehow lose the entire zpool it was installed on. That was a long time ago, so I'd hope it's better now, but I've had no reason or inclination to waste my time with it since.
