I follow a lot of the alternate browser engines and am always looking for new ones outside of the big three. You should use your experience to get a career in the browser tech world as we are dangerously close to the Chromium only web.

I've never heard of CachyOS. I'm amazed at how many Linux versions there are and how good they seem and it makes me wish I could try them all.

Gnome comes with built in virtual machine support with the Boxes app, just download an ISO and try as many as you want.

If Google really cared they would ban ICE ip addresses from using Google services and stop ICE using Google Cloud. Google is a big enough company to force the issue, otherwise they secretly condone ICE.

How's slashdot nowadays? It just seems like hacker news if it was mirrored on an ad infested site that'll prolly give you malware
xacky · 15 days ago
I'm still a Slashdotter, I use it more than HN. Although Slashdot isn't as fun since they cracked down on trolling.

Small bespoke personalized on the spot apps are the future with LLMs.

The future will absolutely not be "How things are today + LLMs"

The paradigm now for software is "build a tool shed/garage/barn/warehouse full of as much capability for as many uses possible" but when LLMs can build you a custom(!) hammer or saw in a few minutes, why go to the shed?

This is also the general threat to books and encyclopedias. Grok for all its point of view flaws still generated a full encyclopedia in two months that Wikipedia by humans took 25 years and Britannica over three centuries. The only remaining issue is when we can finally trust AI to be correct more than expert humans and be aligned with human moral consensus.

All this effort for legal immigration and then US wonders why they have so many illegals.

I don't care about Mozilla anymore and I was a passionate Firefox user back in 2004. The rest of the world just standardized on Chromium. The vast majority of the remaining Firefox users are just using it for ublock origin which is not a sustainable business model.

If more people lived together with friends, that’d make a dent in both the housing and loneliness crises.

Then again how many more people would live alone if they could afford to rent or buy on a single income?

Residential proxies need to be classed as malware and added to antivirus definitions and kicked off of app stores. Mass ban evasion needs to be cracked down on.

This will be interesting to see, because it's not the FIFA game everyone who sees this press release is probably thinking about. EA didn't renew the FIFA license, so the game everyone plays is EAFC now. This will be a new game, and curious to see the quality.

Reminds me of "The World Is Not Enough" for the N64, which tried to capitalize on Goldeneye's success.
