64-bit addr space and deterministic profiles ftw!

Really nice new set of features.

This settlement I guess could be a landmark moment. $1.5 billion is a staggering figure and I hope it sends a clear signal that AI companies can’t just treat creative work as free training data.

Is anybody making smart glasses that are just a display? For me, the rest of the feature set verges on being anti-features. I'd much rather a very rudimentary display that my phone or another device could send relatively low bandwidth data to over bluetooth or some other protocol and build from there.

Having a camera or a mic on the glasses themselves seems like something I'd mostly want to avoid for privacy, and having a speaker just seems like gilding the lily when we already have a variety of headphones to choose from.

Yeah, same here—just give me a clean display and Bluetooth. No cameras, mics, or speakers needed!

Seriously, who cares! There are far more interesting stuff in space exploration than this flight tests of a giant boiler that's been going on for years now.

Amm, is this some kind of reinvention of C and C++ but from high-end backwards?

That's not fair to say. The guy who is "Ultimate Fighting Championship color commentator, comedian, actor, and former television presenter" has a massive conflict of interest, namely between generating viewership and presenting factual information. Everything he presents is a choice on a gradient between those two.

These snake oil salesmen have quickly cottoned on to the fact that they can take disenfranchised and usually uneducated groups and regurgitate them their own opinions with the air of authority, thus gaining an almost fanatically loyal following.

It's the new age televangelists, but instead of preaching salvation for tithe, they preach actually dangerous drivel that gets people killed. It feels like a low point in human evolution, where our tools enable sociopaths to mislead clueless masses on an industrial scale.

And do you know what is the worst aspect of this? That we can't ban them in good faith, because banning information is a slippery slope one way street that we mustn't take a single step on. The only way out of this quagmire is education, but it's a long slog that will pay off in decades time and only if we make a great effort now. It's literally the tree we have to plant and yet our current generation won't get to enjoy it's shade.
