Just like nigerian prince scams are always full of typos and grammar issues. Because only those not recognizing that as obvious scams click the link and thereby this is a filter to increase signal to noise for the scammers.
WatchOS 26 has rendered my Apple Watch almost useless. It's gone from lasting a whole day including 2 cycling 'workouts' for my commute and the occasional lunch time run (or gym session before work) to now being at 40% battery by the time I make my mid-morning coffee and dead before I get home.
I don't use most of the 'smart' features anyway - I'm mostly using the fitness features - so I'll probably switch to a Garmin at some point.
Personally, I've learned a ton while teaching. It's given me many new ideas and insights. But I'm obviously not alone in this. Even Feynman talks about how teaching results in better learning
Here you could do "cash on delivery", credit/debit card, account transfers (yes even across banks, it not as big an issue as US banks makes it) or you could send stamps (not a popular options).
There was never a need for PayPal or PayPal style services. These days it's safe to assume that people have a debit card (or MobilePay in the case of Denmark).
Cash on delivery was a huge pain since you had to potentially large amounts of cash ready to hand over to your postman upon delivery. That's the opposite of convenient.
Alternatively you could pay by bank wire transfer, which of course led to an additional delay of a day or two until your transfer actually arrived at the sellers bank account. Nobody wants to deal with barriers like these in ecommerce. Paypal was a godsend back then. Remember, barely anyone had a credit card in those days in Germany.
All three of my banking apps offer adresse books.

Are you from the states or canada? The parent talked about europe.
Instant transactions are a very recent development and are only starting to become common because banks are required by law to support them for free come October. Up until rather recently instant SEPA transfers were often either not supported or came with additional fees attached.
I think that's a very small target group. Most ambitious cyclists will use a dedicated bike computer rather than a smartphone. And rightfully so, if you ask me.

Let's face it. Most problems require patient approaches. Often changes that are made won't show their effects until years or decades later. Unfortunately that encourages short term thinking towards the next election in government and population alike.
