I'm just a Dutch guy that emigrated to Thailand, but I'd never trade my Toyota Hilux diesel for an electric truck. I don't want to have to rely on electric to be able to drive my car. A hybrid could be ok though.

The nice thing about diesel, in case of emergency is you can have a couple of filled jerrycans around so you can always move if needed. I like the reliability, it feels more anti-fragile, if that makes sense.

I wonder if the Gibraltar company that produces Toyota trucks for UN [0] is going fully electric anytime soon, if ever.

How many times has this been a problem for you?

The Slate initially looked good to me, but there were three things about it that were not upgradeable that seemed problematic:

* Bed size is fairly small

* Towing capacity is low (Just 1000lbs)

* RWD -> AWD

I liked the idea of buying a barebones truck and customizing it myself, but if it can't tow much, can't carry much, and can't go off-road, it's only really a truck in terms of its shape.

Yeah winter is coming. And it's not going to last only 6 months :'( I think it's best to buy soon and dig in for the storm to pass. Unless the AI Bubble pops spectacularly, but then the shockwaves to the global economy will be just as harmful as these price rises.

No one should be buying a SATA SSD in 2025 if they have the option to use a PCIE SSD, which every new motherboard has at least one spot for. This isn’t AI, this is the ending of a standard.

This isn’t the US vs EU, it’s Trump vs EU. I don’t know anyone that thinks Russia is more of an ally than the EU.

Great, I applaud Arizona College. But anecdotes won’t move the needle on getting more men into fields where they are massively underrepresented.

You can't just put words in the author's mouth.

It's also not true at all. For instance, teaching in primary school is a field that is dominated by women where I live, and I (and I agree with the points described in the article) think it would be great to have more male teachers, so that girls and boys can both have rolemodels when growing up. This would also actually help to solve one of the problems that is described in the article, that boys feel unmotivated in school and fall behind.

Just because you think it is a good idea to have more male teachers doesn’t mean there is a push to have more male teachers. If there were, we would probably have more male teachers.

> If they were to admit applicants without considering their sex, the best schools in the country would end up with incoming classes that have an even greater predominance of women than they already do. So, largely unnoticed by the public, they have started to embrace a solution to this supposed problem that is simple, effective, and manifestly unjust: affirmative action for men.

If the situation were reversed, I’m sure the author wouldn’t care. For instance, look at nursing, where there doesn’t seem to be any rush to get more men into the field.

Yeah and Israel is using Microsoft technology to commit war crimes. Which is the greater evil? (Forgive the whataboutism, but the handwringing is real)

Of course it is, most people like to tax others to pay for their own benefits. Almost no one in the US maxes out the cap, so for them it would make no difference.
