I bought a Roomba around 2006. It died within a month. Never bought again. Today I'd need to assume it would serve as a surveillance tool by the Chinese gov, or other bad actors, and so would also never buy one.

All of IoT is a security anti-pattern now.

I stopped reading after too many references to tasks solvable by a 1-line invocation of a CLI tool like ffmpeg or pandoc.

Thank gawd. Flash, gawd bless it, was a low point in internet history. People simply couldn’t resist misusing it and abusing it. I’m not blaming the tool per se. But Flash’s addictiveness caused reasonable people to make gawd-awful UI and UX decisions. Crushing Flash is probably Jobs’ most underrated accomplishment.

Flash directly led to South Park, however. one of the funniest animated series ever. Worth it!

This is obvious. No need for fancy academic-ish paper.

LLMs & GenAI in general have already started to be used to automate the mass production of dishonest, adversarial propaganda and disinfo (eg. lies and fake text, images, video.)

It has and will be used by evil political influencers around the world.

AI has told me that Biden was preparing for his upcoming debate with Trump. It told me that in May 2025.

AI has told me its not raining in my city and that in fact there was 0% chance of it that day. As I was looking out my open front door watching a heavy downpour.

The author fundamentally fails to understand the attractions and benefits of console gaming systems in the first place.
