I wish we could volunteer to help Joe make LINQPad cross-platform, I'd definitely like to help with that.

Likewise. Running LINQPad in Parallels just isn’t the same.

I find it strange that this Ask HN was ranked #23, then I refresh after a minute and it's #190...

How does stuff hosted in this region work regarding the China Firewall?
strayamaaate · 6 years ago
There is no GFW in Hong Kong, so you enjoy unfettered Internet access.

For traffic inbound to China from HK, traditionally it's been slightly faster but that may just be proximity rather than any preferential treatment by the GFW.

I spent two hours one time transferring all my domains (~10) to Google Domains. What a relief to be done with that company. There is not one honest step in the GoDaddy flow, you really have to keep your hand on your wallet.

Disclaimer: I work for Google, no interaction with the domains team though.

Recently went through the same process. I really like the management interface and tight integration with GSuite.

They don't support all of the latest TLDs though, so be sure to check first if you want to do a complete port away from your current registrar.

Good. 99% of it was utter bullshit and any worthwhile research was getting drowned out.

Regardless of whether or not blockchian and cryptocurrencies end up being pivotal technologies in future, one positive fallout is that we are asking "how can we do this better" of some very traditional and established industries.

Norton Commander.

Nothing since has ever made me feel so in control of my file system.

There have been a few clones, but never quite hit the spot.

I first heard of Franzen through a book review by the Welsh professor Robert Adams. Adams is a tour de force, who brings an incredible depth and character to every book he reviews. He retired years ago, but TVO has thankfully archived some of his best.
