You don't need reception of any kind to do an NFC payment, as long as the terminal has network access (even through ethernet).

the Prime code thing is a good point tho

Prime discounts were automatically applied if you use the credit card on your Amazon account I thought

I read they are popular with drug distributors. They ship their merch world wide using various hidden channels and couriers and this helps keep track of the merch.

I put one in my car when I shipped it across the country - it was great to be able to check where it was and know when it was getting close!

Title should be "Vietnam", not "Vienam". I would downvote the submitter just for the reason that he posted this without correting it first.

The article title reflects the typo, it's an issue with the original publication.

I don’t know if this matters much. When I was in school it was rare to actually read a book assignment anyways, and I’m sure with LLMs now it’s less.

I’ve started to have a positive association with reading only in the last few years, I wish schools didn’t force books onto children and make them think they hate reading for their whole lives.

I wouldn't say it's without pay. It's in the job description when you're hired and the pay should compensate for that. SREs are typically paid very well.

On call rotations are part of basically every engineering team that owns any production service at tech companies, not just SRE

>according to GM, the company can create an even better experience for drivers by dropping Apple and making its own software

History has shown that most (especially legacy) car manufacturers make crappy software. I simply don't believe that GM will make exceptional infotainment software and additionally there's no doubt they will charge some subscription fee for parts of the software. It will not be up to the same standard as Tesla or Rivian's software where I can partially accept this argument.

I love CarPlay and my phone already has all the features I need in the car in terms of music, maps, responding to messages, etc. CarPlay is a requirement for me when looking at a car (even rentals).

If you're a keyboard jockey like me you probably have or are prone to have shoulder issues. You really should be doing 2:1 pulling:pushing, or even omit most pushing entirely.

Nothing helped me as much as learning this. Spend more time doing facepulls, rows, pulldowns, and any weird variation you can come up with which works your back muscles. I went from a hunchback to mostly not a hunchback and my shoulders are better for it.

There are few things that will blow up your shoulders as quickly as doing pressing movements wrong. If you want to embark on a pushup journey at least learn good form.

I prefer a more optimal ratio such as 10:1 for optimal injury prevention and optimal posture correction

Never that heavily. It’s a tough job at the top
stevewodil commented on Kindle is removing download and transfer option on Feb 26th   old.reddit.com/r/kindle/c... · Posted by u/andyjohnson0

For me, although this option is still there on Amazon's webpages, it doesn't actually work. I get a popup saying "You do not have any compatible devices registered for this content. Buy a Kindle or get the free Kindle reading app." (I already have the Kindle app on my phone.)

The files containing the book content appear to be on the phone (an Android device) and I can transfer them off it. Perhaps these are the same things that I would get on my computer if I were able to do "download and transfer"? So far as I can tell, however, there is no way to do anything with them. At least, if Calibre + the DeDRM plugin + the KFX input plugin are able to interpret them, then I have failed to find how to do so using Calibre's famously clear and intuitive user interface.

(This sort of thing is why I only "buy"[1] Kindle books when they are much, much cheaper than actual physical books.)

[1] To buy something is to give money to its owner, after which you become its owner. Whatever it is you do when you get access to a Kindle e-book, it isn't buying it; you own nothing more after handing over the money than you did before.

stevewodil · a year ago
To use download and transfer you are required to have a kindle device that supports it registered on your account (11th gen or older), so that's why the option doesn't show up for you.

If the files are .azw3 then it's the same
