Can you enter an RSA key and have it produce two prime numbers?

A random tool like this would be the most entertaining possible way for something like that to be unleashed on the world

The page is objectively and substantially better in every aspect of legibility with CSS loaded.

I do not think that word means what you think it means

We eliminated pennies in Canada in 2012 and the transition was a non-issue. The vast majority of retailers would round cash transactions to the nearest $0.05, but a few would round down to the nearest $0.05 in favor of the customer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal_of_low-denomination...

Canadian cash is better than American cash in several ways: No penny, durable polymer banknotes (instead of dirty wrinkly cotton paper), colorful banknotes (instead of all green) that are easy to distinguish, $1 and $2 coins in wide circulation (instead of worn-out $1 bills).

Better is very subjective here. I hate the colorful, plastic, canadian money. It feels toyish, like monopoly money. Whereas USD feels much more nice to deal with.

Exactly. Early execution speaks volumes - even a rough prototype shows they’re serious and capable of turning ideas into reality.

How long until LLMs learn not to use em-dashes? Literally 100% of the comments on this account have an em-dash in them.

Every ancestor of yours since single cell organisms has reproduced. If they could all do it, you can to. Especially given that you live a more cushy life than 99.9999% of them.

This isn't a comment about Sam Altman, but given Gary's track record, why would anyone listen to him?

Care to enlighten those of us that know nothing about Gary's track record?

What changed that made selling software (as opposed to renting) work before that prevents it from working now?

Well, if Apple did something about it... We would at least have some half-assed thing that would look good in commercials.
spiderice · 2 months ago
Pixelmator somewhat fits that (minus the half-assed part). Pixelmator is, at least for now, pay once. And given Apple's size I don't see them trying to squeeze customers for Pixelmator subscriptions. It definitely isn't a full vector program at the level of Illustrator/Affinity. But for a lot of people it probably has powerful enough vector editing.

It's smart only if their business goal is to lose every single customer they had specifically because it wasn't subscription software and didn't have the AI junk that their customers specifically did not want.
spiderice · 2 months ago
Yeah I'm not sure throwing away their single advantage (that's not hyperbole) over Adobe is a smart play

Yep, this is the first step of enshittification. It's all downhill from here. It will probably be ad-supported by this time next year.

It already is. It's an ad for Canva Premium.

I know you mean something different than that. But it literally already only exists to push people to pay for Canva. And they will only get more aggressive with that.
