Monetary damages are damages, I don't think this is particularly complicated. If I made it so you couldn't get several weeks of your wages for hours that you worked you would be rightly furious with me and feel like a victim.

This is called wage theft and I haven't seen anybody going to jail for it.

I don't condone what this person did, but I wish justice was as swift for crimes committed by the rich and powerful.

First movie I ever saw when my parents brought me to the theater. I was a little kid. Haven't seen it since and still remember the awful skeletons parade.

I'm generally the guy making "easy installers" for Thingino cams. The default way to install on a cam is to use a flash programmer, some devices you can use a uart adapter.. I try to find opportunities in the factory firmware that allow you to flash using just a SD card when possible, and publish walkthrough videos on my channel. Some other devices you can flash with a flash glitch trick at boot, which I have several devices documented for that method as well. I'm a huge proponent of privacy and security being available to everyone and not just the technically minded user, and being able to get a commodity priced camera to faithfully serve a non-technical user is my goal!

More info is at my installers repo https://github.com/wltechblog/thingino-installers or my YT channel (WLTechBlog)

I wonder if there is business in buying those cameras in bulk, flash them with thingio and resell them as "open" camera. Not sure if it's even legal. I guess flashing the camera probably void the warranty and the margin would be razor thin anyway.

"The green revolution has won a temporary success in man’s war against hunger and deprivation; it has given man a breathing space. If fully implemented, the revolution can provide sufficient food for sustenance during the next three decades. But the frightening power of human reproduction must also be curbed; otherwise the success of the green revolution will be ephemeral only."

> canid predators like hyenas

Hyenas are not canids; they are feliformia ("cat-like" carnivorans).

skywal_l · a month ago
From Wikipedia:

> Although phylogenetically closer to felines and viverrids, hyenas are behaviourally and morphologically similar to canids in several elements due to convergent evolution: both hyenas and canines are non-arboreal

So for the purpose of this article, which states that because cats can climb trees are more of a danger to humans than dog/wolves, we can consider them on the dog side.

What do you mean? The AMA?

Huh? Isn't that exactly what they are doing with this?

I think your parent poster has a point. What is needed from firefox is fairly clear to any person of good faith:

Better web compatibility and speed, be more lean (higher dev to admin ratio) and no more shenanigans / distractions.

To keep asking the question when you know the answer is at best incompetence according to Hanlon.

I used to want to donate to Mozilla Foundation, but I've long lost any hope that the corporation would spend that money in a way that makes sense to me. The pessimist on me would expect donated money to be spent on more built-in "campaigns", "studies" or ads. Or maybe a bonus for their executives.

I just want Firefox to be faster. I'm donating to Floorp (a Firefox fork), at least they seem focused on making the browser better.

It's kind of disheartening to see what happened to the Mozilla Foundation. And it makes me kind of afraid of what's going to happen to linux once Linus is out. It seems that a great project requires a great BDFL, otherwise it will be taken over by ghouls.

Our ability to adapt to a changing climate without too much human suffering should radically increase with a shrinking world population though.

In general I think too much emphasis is placed on trying to preserve the current climate as is, and too little on trying to make this planet a good place to live for generations to come. The climate changes over time, that’s just how it is. The climate changes we are seeing now are not extraordinary when viewed over the course of the Earth’s history. The current climate has no intrinsic value and will be long gone in a billion years, regardless of what we do.
