It's against the rules to use this site primarily for ideological battle, and we ban accounts that do it, regardless of which ideology they're battling for. We have to, because it's the primary thing that destroys the curious conversation this site exists for.

I've therefore banned this account. Please don't create accounts to break HN's rules with.

Yes, the rules are just the same for the opposite ideological side.

You banned the account I replied to right? I was pointing out the conspiracy post...

EDIT - because of rate limiting:

I've posted in both technical articles and political articles.

There have been a lot of political articles recently with the tech bans. I cannot help that.

Most of my comments are about freedom of speech, not really a political ideology.

I did not create an account to feed hellfire, I created an account to voice my opinion and debate from the other side because I see such one-sided arguments.

This is why you have an echo-chamber.

So we agree. Trump’s tweets were pretty credible, don’t you think?

This whole mess this week happened because of one person who incited violence.

sillycon-valley · 5 years ago
We do not agree. There was nothing credibly threatening in his tweets.

This whole mess happened because of the instigating of the media and the riots all year.

This event did not appear out of nowhere, there was major tension building and there still is.

For context AVIF is to AV1 what WebP is to VP8.

It's an image format based on the keyframes of the AV1 video codec.

sillycon-valley · 5 years ago
Also, AVIF has support for live photos and animations.

WebP afaik has a more limited feature set.

I remember how, in the Obama era, there was a constant drumbeat of "they're coming for your guns," and unsurprisingly it never materialized.

Why should I believe you this time?

sillycon-valley · 5 years ago
Well there were pretty heavy gun regulations that were enacted under Obama.

I guess Obama did allow cartels to have guns by continuing Fast & Furious so you're half right.

Jokes aren’t included.

However some jokes already are illegal or at the very least will get you in trouble, for example there’s one word you can’t joke about in airports.

sillycon-valley · 5 years ago
My point was credible threatening speech is already illegal in America.

Another point would be who decides what is or isn't a joke or hateful?

Do you want the companies to decide what the correct speech is, would you like a government panel to police speech?

Currently, I like illegal speech being the only rule because it gets murky otherwise.
