Vibecoder here. I don't think so. I am a PE investor, and we are using it in our small portfolio companies to great effect. We can make small little mini-apps that do one thing right and help automate away extra work.

It's a miracle. Simply wouldn't have been done before. I think we'll see an explosion of software in small and midsize companies.

I admit it may be crappy software, but as long as the scope is small - who cares? It certainly is better than the janky manual paper processes, excel sheets, or just stuff in someone's head!

Curious about why the janky manual paper processes, excel sheets, or stuff not documented, was fixed only when vibe code was available. Was it just cost?

I think trying to "tune" your kids in any way is asking to be disappointed. My three kids could not be more different and they all have the same mother, grew up in the same house, etc.

If "microRNA" profiles have any influence, I would wager it's very small.

I’m pretty sure the first one didn’t have siblings, and the second only had one. Also their mother is not the same person after raising the first kid, or raising two.

Parenting never have reproducible conditions.

Does automation use generally pay taxes?

Should Amazon pay taxes for using factory robots in lieu of people?

Should fabric manufacturers pays taxes for using automated looms instead of hand weaving ?

Even if lawmakers wanted to tax AI, how would they do it? How do you measure the AI usage level at a company, or the number of workers it has displaced?

When Postman started becoming shit, I started using Insomnia, which is also turning into shit now.

Good thing is that we can start using Insomnium now.

Almost every single one of these "using WiFi to do X! Crazy!" articles always requires some crazy amount of calibration / training requirement.

It's like me telling you: With using just audio I can trace your exact coordinates! ... By using an array of microphones in a room.

sdf4j · 5 months ago
That’s the point, with wifi you already have the array of microphones in the room.

When I see suggestions to "own" your email domain, how do you manage the chicken-egg problem of needing an email address in the first place to register the domain you want to lease?

Are there registrars that let you walk in with a physical ID to proof you are you in case your email gets compromised and they get access to the registrar? Any experience with that?

More to the point, it's a shame that we can't collectively grok (dammit, they took that from us too) concepts like "personal" and/or "curated" directories, e.g. individual and group wikis and so forth on perhaps more directed topics with lists of good links.
sdf4j · 6 months ago
what you mean we can't? there are a lot of curated content directories out there.

What do you hope to offer that wouldn't be found in, say, GitLab?
sdf4j · 7 months ago
GitLab is a completely different platform.

This comes to solve the problem of the terrible UX in the most widespread git service. I won't dare to try to convince my whole team, or company, to migrate to GitLab, but this can be easily adopted.

At least Apple has a rule against push spam, which they toe the line on but it's still a lot less bad than it could be.

not having a way to divide notification channels, transactional vs promotional, make it worse than android.
