Essentially, a mandate for automated cert renewals. Not a bad thing.

I think something like this is obviously the future. I'm looking forward to writing into some UI "schedule a dental cleaning appointment ASAP any nearby clinic" for it to just work.

Trudeau didn't ban news on FB, FB banned news posted to Canada because they don't want to pay publishers.

Surrounded by scandals, Trudeau passed a law that had an oh-so-unintentional side-effect of hiding news from many people’s primary news source.

It’s hard to not be cynical about it.

> Like imagine if China owned CNN and the New York Times and decided what stories they could publish.

It is happening on our local platforms here. Meta, based in the US, is systematically censoring Palestinian content that would otherwise be available here in Canada.

Details:

For a very recent example, one of the few remaining prominent Palestinian journalists, with a following of over 1M on Meta, was banned today:

Moot point because Trudeau basically banned all news from being shared on Facebook

It’s insane how fighting a DMCA notice can have serious consequences, but sending frivolous DMCA notices does not.

What percentage of people who use their products care? 1%?

OpenAI is a brand, not a literal description of the company!

> “Le Thière” is French for “the third”

Is this true? I know modern French is troisième, but I'd never seen this before, so I googled. There seems to be nothing on the internet about it, and remarkably few matches for Thière beyond misspellings of théière (teapot), which makes me think the authors of this article just made this up.

sattoshi · a year ago
Troisieme is the third when counting. “Tiers” is the third when taking a fraction.

I can only speak to modern french though.
