So why can’t they learn? We have Google, we have Stack Overflow, we have LLMs. My cynical take is that there’s just nobody there who gives a shit about the UX, most likely the team that built all of their backend stuff is long gone (quit or laid off) and now there’s a skeleton team of the cheapest possible engineers just keeping it running.

They are likely using cheap labour from India or something.. the deal went to the lowest bidder.

It's crazy that both 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 where affected by the same change

I guess now we should start using a completely different provider as dns backup Maybe 8.8.8.8 or 9.9.9.9

sammy2255 · a month ago
1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 are served by the same service. It's not advertised as a redundant fully separate backup or anything like that...

What would be a good reason to switch back from Google DNS?
sammy2255 · a month ago
Depends who you trust more with your DNS traffic. I know who I trust more.

I worry that 7-Zip is going to lose relevance because lack of zstd support. zlib's performance is intolerable for large files and zlib-ng's SIMD implementation only helps here a bit. Which is a shame, because 7-Zip is a pretty amazing container format, especially with its encryption and file splitting capabilities.

Disabling DoH in your browser’s settings should make it fall back to you system’s resolver.

You’ll only be vulnerable to a MitM attack if your system’s resolver is insecure and also vulnerable to a MitM attack.
