>It originated in China, but in recent months and years, it has gained traction as a talking point in tech and startups.

I thought I saw something about 996 being made illegal in china a while back, and at a quick search it appears that was the case back in 2021.

Why is it suddenly becoming popular outside of China?

When you work from home, you only have to look good in front of a camera when you have a meeting.

This implies I'm turning my camera on for meetings

I've been using this for years. There's even a kubernetes deployment to directly point your tunnel to your local kubetnetes network. Cloudflare's free tier is very generous. I've never experienced any issues with this solution.

Do they have an operator to create the ingress rules and what not? I’m running their tunnel docker container but I still have to do some clicking around in the UI

I looked through those numbers, and immediately thought to myself - hope you don't need to see a doctor for anything serious, or go to a dentist for that mater.

FWIW, I grew up in rural nowhere (population 150, nearest town 45 miles away) - and I honestly don't know how anyone can live out in the boonies without a car. Taking the bus that goes 3 times a day is one thing, needing to move stuff is another thing. I mean, obviously there are plenty of people that do manage - but sooner or later you'll become completely dependent on others for certain types of transportation.

Also, there's clothes, house maintenance, and lots of other things.

There must be some statistical method or honeypot method to reliably detect cheaters. Like present the players with a bot who's purpose is to be un-hitt-able unless the player is cheating. I don't know, there has to be a way. Cheaters are disease in online gaming. I know that sensible people won't want to sacrifice their anonymity to provide ID to play a video game but if it is in the competitive scene and they are playing for money, surely it isn't a stretch to ask for ID and thus ultimate accountability.

Escape from Tarkov had/has something vaguely similar to this. They'll put a very valuable piece of loot in an inaccessible room under the map or inside a locked car and monitor which accounts pick it up. I think Call of Duty warzone did it as well with the fake enemies that only accounts suspected of cheating will see

This last weekend, I met a friend's wife. She immigrated here from Vietnam when she was ~4 years old and has since forgotten how to speak Vietnamese. I was shocked
