what would you recommend to "tune for HN-interestingness"?

Yes, I read that:

> Include text giving the backstory of how you came to work on this, and explaining what's different about it.

that's why I wrote the blurb that way.

This is a better blurb https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44498576, your new one is a set of instructions. I think it just needs to be a little clearer, you're on the right track with the second post to focus on something more concrete but it's better to show your whole thing instead of some subthing of the thing.

You should mail questions like this to the moderators at hn@ycombinator.com

It's just the prompt: https://github.com/xai-org/grok-prompts/commit/c5de4a14feb50...

People who don't understand llms think saying don't shy away from making claims that are politically incorrect means it won't PC. In reality saying that just makes things associated with politically incorrect more likely. The /pol/ board is called politically incorrect, the ideas people "call" politically incorrect most of all are not Elon's vague centrist stuff it's the extreme stuff. LLMs just track probable relations between tokens, not meaning, it having this result based on that prompt is obvious.

The mishap is not the chatbot accidentally getting too extreme and at odds with 'Elon's centrist stuff'. The mishap is the chatbot is too obvious and inept about Musk's intent.

The parent submission is off-topic and spreads Jew hatred (attack on a person because Robbie Gibb is Jew and should be removed from board, similar to Columbia University president Claire Shipman comments). As someone who's grandparents experienced similar attacks during Stalinism because they were Jewish aka "zionists", this is extremely scary and totalitarian.

I just don't understand how this is allowed.

experienced similar attacks

That's a very good reason not to reach for dehumanizing tropes like 'vile scum' on HN or really anywhere else.

You can mail such questions to hn@ycombinator.com or search dang's comments for the years of explainers of the things that happen with posts of that nature.

At least the third time this year, but every post on HN related to grok's prompt gets flagged soon after, with a rigor not shared by any other political or "celebrity" topic.
pvg · 2 months ago
A US presidential candidate got shot and people flagged that. How would one even assess this 'rigor' without considering the things that never made it to begin with.

There was also at least one giant thread about the Grok South Africa thing.

Just to make sure I'm following: that's ongoing discussion of the same issue, but not the same post, right?
pvg · 2 months ago
Right, because otherwise you end up with a split discussion and people miss stuff, moderators end up having to merge them, etc. Immediate followups count as dupes (in HN's weird dupery algebra), they're better off linked in the active thread.
