> That entire industry is going to be reinvented from scratch

Hey, I heard that one before! The entire financial industry was supposed to have been reinvented from scratch by crypto.

pomtato · 7 months ago
Well it kinda did change things up a bit. Me being able to receive payments across borders without significant delay or crazy fees is a decent perk, you can hate crypto culture and grifters trying to make a quick buck but it's applications are very real.

There is definitely such a thing as overtraining. I got my free testosterone down to 15 (reference range=35-155 pg/mL) and my total testosterone down to 96 (ref=250-1100 ng/dL). From histograms from various studies, I hit the 1-percentile of low testosterone as a 35yo male. That's... uh... not good.

This was due to a number of factors: excessive running (the equivalent of ~50-70mi/week), calorie restriction, and possibly carbohydrate restriction. Thankfully symptoms of low T (namely morning erections) resolved ~1month after ameliorating those 3 factors. (For anyone interested, look up "Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport".)

Mileage isn't my goal. Health is.

OP states "I've... invested into my own health", but I'm not convinced.

wait what? you get morning erections when on low testosterone?

Human Beings are incentivized to cure HIV. Real people are experiencing real pain and problem to the tune of millions of persons a year. It is among the most stigmatized long-term illnesses on the planet.

Maybe BigCo Evil Pharma isn't "incentivized" to cure HIV; but hundreds of universities including those outside the United States, are. The US does not hold a monopoly on medical advancement.

HIV is *hard* to cure. That's why it's not been cured yet.

i'm not so sure, insulin for diabetes is a solved problem yet it's costs hundreds of $ all because scumy of pharma corps(looking at you Eli Lily) keep renewing the patent using legal loopholes.

When I use the "think" mode it retains context for longer. I tested with 5k lines of c compiler code and I could 6 prompts in before it started forgetting or generalizing

I'll say that grok is really excellent at helping my understand the codebase, but some miss-named functions or variables will trip it up..

pomtato · 10 months ago
not from a tech field at all but would it do the context window any good to use "think" mode but discard them once the llm gives the final answer/reply?

is that even possible to disregard genrated token's selectively?

Last time I tried QwQ or QvQ (a couple of days ago), their CoT was so long that it almost seemed endless, like it was stuck in a loop.

I hope this doesn't have the same issue.

Can someone give me sources for how to debunk this? https://youtu.be/75a49S4RTRU?si=dcGFgcIWNz3nDwxw

For me, it’s compelling but I’m no expert. Anyone got any background that can prove this guy is wrong?

pomtato · a year ago
With all due respect, that's one of the most misguided(i wanna say retarded but.. HN) takes I've seen in a while. How could he even compare the SLS (which costs per launch about as much as it took to develop the entire reusable Starship system) to Starship?

The guy is just blinded by his hatred for Elon to even acknowledge one of the historical achievements SpaceX engineers worked their asses off for.

I didn't know what it does. There's no copy explaining it. No examples either.

But when I asked, it responded well.

> what does this do? > Can you give an example?

And I got:

> It translates corporate jargon into plain English. For example: > "We're leveraging synergies to optimize our core competencies" > Becomes: > "We're trying to do our jobs better"

Maybe add this to the site's copy?

Good little tool.

What's the usecase you had in mind when you built this?

Also, if you care to explain, what' the stack used?
