What an interesting read.

I have a friend who is just like Vivian. I'm sure that in an alternative universe their wasted talents of observational wit and caustic retorts would have made them a world class comic playwright.

"Here hair here". What a great film, also.

what a great article, I loved seeing the links that Krebs (?)/Unit 221B (?) dug up and all the info they managed to connect. It felt like I was reading a detective story. It sounds like this guy is doomed, the NSA application date alone basically identifies him

221B is 221B Baker Street, where Sherlock Holmes lived.

Get a used Rancilio Silvia + do a fully fledged Gaggiuino build.

Check this Video comparison (Not a modded Silvia though, but a Gaggia classic which I would not recommended due to its aluminum boiler and the new China manufactured models have a (probably Teflon) coated boiler that likes to shed the coating... just search on reddit). The emphasis in this comparison is on the Gaggiuino mod, which does all the magic (profile based brewing). The underlying base machine is not that important. I would stay away from Sage/Breville, too much non standard parts and lots of plastic for my taste.

Decent Espresso vs DIY Gaggiuino build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4kAgPm1Xfw

Edit: many typos and some rewording

I read that Gaggia would replace flaking boilers. Contact your supplier for information.

I've been playing different styles and genres of video games ever since Wolfenstein 3D and I consider myself pretty adept at playing them.

However, Rocket League is one game that I just can't master. I've tried, really really tried, but I just can't play it with any amount of skill.

It's a shame, as it looks really fun and I hear my son and his mates having a ball when they play.

polyvisual commented on Show HN - A side project I built to help with my laziness/procrastination   remindify.co/... · Posted by u/polyvisual

I thought I'd share a side project I've been work on recently.

I've always struggled with procrastination. The final straw came last year when I forgot to book an MOT for my campervan, resulting in a cancelled weekend away, grief from my wife and kids and a realisation that I needed to address my procrastination problem.

So, I did what all good software engineers do: I spent a weekend hacking together a small reminder service.

The service emails me 12 weeks before, 8 weeks before, 5 weeks before, 3 weeks before, 2 weeks before, and 1 week before an important deadline. I can also choose daily reminders on the same 12, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1 schedule.

I have found that this increasingly frequent nagging helps me focus on important tasks and I haven't missed any renewals or deadlines since.

Following feedback from people I have shared the idea with, I put some more effort into the service and built remindify.co

Thanks! Matt

Different topic, but can someone talk about which browser they use now? I’ve used Chrome for the past N years with ublock Origin, but recently I’ve been getting some ads on Youtube. Also some websites just didn’t work in Chrome. I switched to Brave a week ago and things seem ok, but it’s a weird browser with Tor built in, and also Spotify.com always crashes with a Memory problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on browser preference these days?

Brave is great. I disabled all the web3 stuff and tidied up the homepage so it doesn't show me all the news etc.

The only issue I have is that the sync between my iphone, macbook, windows can sometimes get out of sync.

They intentionally make it really hard to migrate your data off their app under the premise of "security". Now, they are EOL'ing desktop apps, which are extremely convenient to use, despite the terrible UX.

The process for exporting is doable, but requires fairly deep technical knowledge and it isn't 100% clean. In order to do so, you need that desktop app and a specific version at that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/comments/116kpvf/export_a...

I stopped using it ages ago because of these reasons, this should be your heads up to do the same.

I use Authy. I've read a few comments about how migrating away is difficult. What do you use instead?

I also use bitwarden, but not sure how I feel about passwords and totp being in the same app.

Interesting take on split screen! In the demo, when the screen splits at about 4 seconds, I felt a bit nauseous, almost like a very light seasickness.
