>60 or 70% of Americans polled*

I certainly don't want it and nobody I know that actually understands the real cost does either. Every single nation that provides socialized healthcare is hopelessly strained by its cost, and the service has suffered as a result. The system relies on eithe dramatic reductions in the cost of healthcare or a positive birthrate to sustain it.

Nobody I know in socialized healthcare systems has good things to say about it when they actually need it.

Having experienced both, and needed both, I certainly have more positive things to say on the socialized version than the privatized version. Does the US system not hopelessly strain people by its cost? Does the US system not require positive rate of insurance payers to sustain it?

It somewhat makes sense in terms of industries which are deemed strategically important. Intel needs to start thinking long term instead of short term profits.

Which is what the last CEO was in the middle of doing and he got fired just recently because they couldn't stomach it

I wonder why the school shootings went up so much under Biden, and why we heard so little about it.

Looks more like the rate of increase started going up in 2018

I had essentially the same experience–I did SJC to SBA a few times a year when I was in college (which for the non-Californians here, is a destination that does not really have an airport you would want to use). I took Greyhound the first few times and then switched to Amtrak, even though it took 2-3 hours longer. I'll take that every time just by being able to get up and walk around. And the views coming in around Point Conception as the sun sets are priceless :)

Why wouldn't you want to use the SBA airport? It's lovely, scenic and has quite a few routes and airlines these days.

Man the internet (and capitalism) is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Also evolution is fucking amazing. Check out the bit around 4:40 about this thing called the "chalazae".

petemill · 2 years ago
What role did capitalism have in this revelation for you? I don't think it caused the chicken so perhaps you're referring to the Internet which most certainly was not due to capitalism.

Windows 95 was years behind the state-of-the-art on the day "Chicago" shipped. The technical choice of the backslash for file system paths, and hiding the real disk contents from the user view, caused years of headaches. The architectural design choices for extensibility ended up as a swiss-cheese architecture for malware. MSFT-chairman literally saw himself as the new savior. glad you see this as important?
petemill · 3 years ago
Important in terms of adoption.

not only do we create it, but it’s stimulated by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. You know like ibuprofen that everyone takes all the time.

Edited to remove Tylenol and replace it with ibuprofen. For some reason I thought Tylenol wasn’t ibuprofen. Thanks!

petemill · 3 years ago
Tylenol / Acetaminophen / Paracetamol is not an NSAID. Ibuprofen and Aspirin is.

It's an override, so I imagine future requests will follow the header changes you institute. Now all we need is response editing to really integrate burp/mitmproxy-esque response hacking.
petemill · 3 years ago
We already have response editing. You can save a file in devtools and set up workspace folders to override responses at any url.

This article stated that early last year there were only 26,000 DC fast chargers total in the US. https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/advice/ev-charging-stati...

Adding close to 10% to the total isn't a drop in the bucket, is it?

petemill · 3 years ago
Maybe the bucket size is what is hoped for vs what exists already
