Shameless plug here. I work at SkyPath (https://skypath.io) we monitor and collect CAT data from 1000's of flights in real time and predict CAT events with the help of an AI model. Pilots are extremely happy with our solution, we signed several of the major airlines in US and have active evaluation programs with several others.

I see the site claims to save fuel, is this in the form of providing routing? I assume that patching data needs to get in to the autopilot system at some point, how does that work?

Heh, a combination of the post going viral, me using the free tier on Vercel, and some sub-optimal images I have used, caused me to use up all the free bandwidth. Vercel reached out though and promptly unlocked the web, which is very cool of them.

Guess it’s now time for me to learn my lesson and optimize the images

Before Covid I went for an interview at a remote-only company, which was a huge plus. We had the first interview over zoom (or zoom equivalent at the time) and everything went well - Then I get a follow-up email about github access and they send me a huge github repo where they want me to complete an example web application that can do x,y and z based on some of the example models included, and want it done in a week to be eligible for hiring. I kindly declined the offer to code for free - and then was messaged a few months later that they had removed this whole section of the interview process and invited me to re-apply. Needless to say I did not apply agin.

Similar experience with a company this year for a new grad position, they wanted me to come to 30hr unpaid hackathon hosted in the evenings.

I'm sure the signal they get is pretty good, but I'm also sure they filter outany candidates that don't want to put up with BS like this.

Interested in the Junior oppurtunity, but all I see is a Senior Backend Engineer on the site.

If GPUs are so easy, then why has Intel taken like three swings at making a GPU in the last ten years and haven't come close to NVDA perf even once?

I feel like I'm still facing retaliation for quitting a company 3 years ago. I'm more experienced and more efficient than I've ever been as a software engineer but I can't keep a job and nobody answers my job applications anymore even after changing countries (I have multiple citizenships). I apply for hundreds and get literally 0 calls back. Even my sister who works in HR can't believe it so we started applying together. I constantly hear stories of junior devs straight out of no-name universities getting jobs easily with huge salaries. I don't know what the heck is going on. Is there some algorithm systematically filtering me out based on my name or seniority?

> junior devs straight out of no-name universities getting jobs easily

I'm a soon-to-be grad from a Top 5 Canadian school with multiple internships (no big names, unfortunately), it's been very difficult for me to get callbacks. In fact my ratio of getting past the first screen is about 2/125.

I would blame your experience more on the market.

Just downloaded. Doesn't seem to want to download Wikipedia on my phone, it says "detecting if filesystem supports 4gb files"

I don't even think this was true when people were saying it 5 years ago, but it's definitely not true now. Literally yesterday I met a kid doing sales at Microcenter with a CS degree who couldn't find a dev job after 1.5 years of searching. Go to any programmers meetup in your city and there will be dozens of people trying to network into a dev job. Look up any video online of "I applied to 500 jobs" from people trying to break into a software role. Look at the reddit page for any bootcamp to see all the CS grads asking if it'll get them a job. American CS graduates aren't starry eyed for FAANG jobs, they're starving for any jobs
