History books should be burned.
No human should ever speak to another human again.
But we all need to be in offices in close quarters once the pandemic ends, so that we can fire each other for accidental using the word "she" in a conversation.

I'm in a similar kids/work situation and it's going very rough at best. But then again I'm a completely terrible parent, barely capable as a normal functioning adult, and my kids inherited the coked up hummingbird trait from their mother.
My little dog is the worst/best boss. He yells at me when it's time to start the work day (he sits on the bed behind me like the lazy freeloader he is). He yells again at lunch (he needs to pee) and at 5pm (he needs to pee again). The only problem is he doesn't understand Saturday, so like clockwork, 8am Sat morning, yap yap yap, go to work.
Real answer: Get up and walk away.
If the apartment is small, walk down the hall or around the block. You need an actual mental break from work. Once the walk is done DO NOT START WORK AGAIN.
I find I actually have a better balance WFH, as now I don't work past 5, I just get up and walk away (unless there's something that's actually critical).
But also my personal answer: multiple young children. Around 4-5pm they are hungry and it's time to do X & Y with them. Overall domestic responsibilities are so demanding that if I don't rip out of work and start cooking, cleaning, bathing, teaching, lawn work, etc as fast as possible, I'll be lucky to get to sleep before midnight.
I have good vision: no known issues, regular eye checkups, etc. But I find it nearly impossible to read most displays that use blue LEDs. If the background is blue (eg: timex indiglo watch) then it's fine. But blue leds on some of my home theater equipment drive me insane. Even if it isn't the letters/numbers themselves and it's just a regular circular power led, I find them really hard to look at.
10 years later I developed astigmatism in both eyes. Dark mode is really blurry in some settings.
The blue light thing, as I understand it, is where you first begin to notice astigmatism. The wavelength is shorter and a very slight astigmatism becomes more apparent.
2 generations ago it was common to literally lie in the sun for hours putting coconut oil on your skin to increase tanning. And yes they did have higher skin cancer rates but there is a fair gap between that and not doing it + a long sleeve shirt/hat.
Im trying to move to a screen free Sunday to encourage more outdoors/interaction but screens are so ingrained in our lives now its not popular.
I feel very bad for my kids as all they want is to be able to play with their friends and do all the things they could before so I do my very best to not show them my frustration. Its a depressing situation all around but I am very grateful to actually still have a job while so many others have lost theirs. My kids ask me why I have to work so much all the time, as all they want to do is spend time with me.
I guess what I am trying to say is the current situation is not optimal.
A portion of the development community loves to talk about blameless post-mortems and a blame-free culture until a tech company like Zoom does something they don't like.
Driving at sunrise/sunset reminds me of the original Mad Max. Expect real and depressing.
