Considering the shrill “DONATE NOW TO STOP TRUMP!!” emails were actually used to pay off campaign debt (after spending $1.5 billion!) I don’t think the Democrat base is primed for more shenanigans

Also beware many of those texts are from scammers, they have stolen tens of millions from people thinking they are donating to democrats.

> You really do have to account for why this is mainly happening in industries that are adopting AI

Correlation is not causation. The original research paper does not prove a connection.

> I doubt very much that these three Stanford professors would be blindsided by the concept of rates and tarriffs.

They are nonetheless subject to publish or perish pressure and have strong incentives to draw publishable attention-grabbing results even where the data is inconclusive.

Tariffs are just a massive government revenue generating consumption tax on particular industries. We would expect unemployment among the young trying to enter those industries to be hit hardest.

Western governments should have entire budgets focused on software to circumvent great firewalls.

America is closing a college per week due to student population declines.

Most students are coming from countries with significantly worse demographic trends. The population inversion is already here but it is being felt by schools first.

In 10 years it will be for new employees, in 40 years it will be shortages in medical care.

I don't understand why they need to use fiber to guide the drones instead of using frequency-hopping spread spectrum (which, incidentally, was invented in the 1940's by film star Hedi Lamarr).

> It was all about masks/no masks, remember?

No I don't. What I remember is that they said a lot about social distancing and going outside, and for those who do have to be around others, they initially said you gotta wear N95 since ordinary masks aren't very effective, then they said there's a shortage of N95 masks so please just wear normal masks since at least it's better than nothing, and save the N95s for the hospitals and other high-risk settings/workers.

If you remember it differently, please explain what I'm misremembering, because (unlike a sizable fraction of the population) I don't remember hearing anything nonsensical or misleading about masks, especially given the information and resources they had available at the time.

California was forcing people to go indoors from the beach after we at HN were discussing the misleading CDC recommendations that masks won’t help… it really depends on what timeline you focus on.

Who in the world is installing UV in forced air systems without running an activated carbon filter to remove ozone? The guides I followed when I installed mine called this out multiple times.
mensetmanusman · 4 days ago
Not all UV wavelengths generate ozone.
