mekdoonggi commented on We have an anti-aging vaccine. Why aren't more people getting it?   vox.com/health/477761/shi... · Posted by u/l2silver

I'm in my early thirties. Looks like non-covered cost of this vax is ~$400. For slower biological aging and 20% lower risk of dementia? Might be a good deal.

Supporters really wanted him to "run the government like a business".

With endless grift, embezzlement, pump and dumps, and marketing, they must be thrilled.

This makes me wonder if Amazon the retailer requires having access to AWS services “at cost” in order to be profitable. If AWS was spun out completely, would Amazon proper be able to afford their AWS bill of AWS had a profit margin on it.

I’m sure Amazon.com would be fine, but it would take a chunk out of their margins. I’m also sure that their X% ownership of the spun out AWS would cover the difference.

Consider the reverse. If AWS didn't have a large guaranteed customer in the form of Amazon, would they still be able to develop their products with perfect knowledge of the needs?

The world’s richest man declared that the new company would “extend the light of consciousness to the stars”.

Because of distances and time, it is unlikely that humans will populate the galaxy with biological offspring (barring some technical breakthroughs that we have no line of sight on).

AI, on the other hand, could theoretically populate the galaxy and beyond, carrying the human intelligence and consciousness story into the future.

If your goal is to spread life around the galaxy, humans are terrible species to try to do it with.

Wouldn't it be much easier to just create extremophile/tardigrade factories that just constantly produce them and chuck them in random directions?

Perhaps some wise aliens already did so, and we are the offspring.

Bottom line is:

* Pay your debts

* Own useful assets

* Live in a peaceful stable country

mekdoonggi · 4 days ago
Well duh. That's obviously what everyone should try to do, but it's nice to engage in a bit of flight of fancy. I like imaging a rogue group of retail investors buying up the yen, short squeezing carry traders and sticking it to the billionaires. Real life is much more boring, and involves habitual, long term good choices.

As always, Washington doing the hard work of making sure corpos never need to fix anything, ever.

A sincere thank you, for providing me with the exact section of law that I disagree with.

Bottom line is: buy Yen futures to screw billionaires. Sounds pretty good to me.

E.U is replacing their citizens with unvetted violent criminals. They have to vote for whoever gives them free stuff. The powers doing this are upset a company in the U.S allows their citizens to protest it.

Seems like Norway exemplifies the idea behind the subsidies. Induce a transition so that it is as quick as possible because the underlying service has parity, it's just that transitioning is annoying.

Sounds awesome, when do we start?

Could not possibly agree more. When did we accept, "Users are doing the scamming, not the company" as an excuse? If it's your platform, you should be held responsible for all the illegal actions that it enabled.

If a magazine published a page with a scam, they're responsible. Same should apply to social media.

I literally don't care if it puts them out of business because the moderation would be too severe.
