Depends on what consumers stand for. If enough complain. If enough get bad reviews. If enough get returned. If enough buy something else is the big one. If there are other uses where they can't (some TVs are used a safety message boards in factories - if the ads ever show in this context and someone is hurt there will be a lawsuit - so there will be some demand at any price for something without ads)

How are people still buying into the whole "voting with your wallet" crap?

This post was really good right up until the screenshot of ChatGPT... It would be a big improvement to convert that to HTML, fact check it, and then not cite LLM as a source.

It's getting very annoying to see posts that use ChatGPT as source, sadly it seems like this is the future.

Find joy in the craft, don’t rely on the outside world to feed you excitement. A well-crafted wooden box can spark as much joy as a well-crafted piece of software or a well-written document.

Taxes are boring, no kid at kindergarten states they are going to be tax advisors when they grow up, yet tax advisors exist and they do not all despise their jobs, because doing your job well can be intrinsically motivating.

I used to feel this way until management made AI tools mandatory.

How devs can create something like this with normal time constrains? I couldn't squeeze this kind of project having day to day 9 to 5 job as dev.

I wonder the same thing.

Jesus, can't people have fun anymore? Does everything have to be "important for humanity"?

Do you listen to music, read books, have sex etc? I bet you do. And I also bet that you would find it pretty ridiculous if someone asked you why you do those things instead of helping humanity.

It's utterly insane that people need to work more and longer as technology increases productivity. A truly dystopian economic system.

In 1930 Keynes projected that by 2000 their grandchildren could work 15 hours per week¹. Now the projection is that we will work more and longer in the future.

And what is this labor supposed to even do? How much of even current work really increases wellbeing?

Graeber's thesis of bullshit jobs becomes increasingly more convincing: work isn't about production, it's about social control².
