What alternative have Linux users to Dropbox, to using their own server? (That is, for a number of reasons for most people, suboptimal)? You cant really use OneDrive365, and Dropbox offers vast support to Linux, is easy to set and can be used for free too. Is there a reason why Linux users wouldn't use it? Asking for curiosity.

keybase's kbfs is my dropbox-style replacement. It works really well in my experience

Host file blocking on mobile devices produces some weird web browsing. I like using browser plugins because it gets rid of the whole chunk of html so it's like the ad was never there in the first place. On android, there are these huge blank spots you have to scroll past to keep reading. I still keep adaway on but I wish I could just use ublock origin with android's chrome.

You can use uBlock Origin in Firefox on Android, and I've found DNS66 to be a good non-rooted adblocker on Android.

Youtube sucks because you cannot turn the phone screen off and listen only the audio. But I use "youtube-dl -x" to extract audio in my home server. I listen many "podcasts" in various languages this way.

Joe Rogan is my favourite, best of those should be in Netflix. When properly translated they would have worldwide audience, like the one with Elon Musk.

Check out newpipe, it's in f-droid. It supports audio-only with the screen off, and downloading audio from videos.

Dropbox cannot cross reference your personal photos with your email, your YouTube preferences, your fetishes extracted from your searches, your purchases, your entire location history, etc.

That said Dropbox is another poor choice for privacy. I'm searching for alternatives, but the alternatives don't seem to be that competent, except for the peer to peer solutions like Resilio Sync and Syncthing. My only consolation at this point, until I settle on an alternative, is that Dropbox isn't Google.

Check out keybase, I've been using it as a Dropbox replacement, and it works pretty well. Its file access on mobile is still in development, as is everything else.

I think they didn't answer an important question: Did runners switching back to other shoes get slower again?

"Runners who improved their performance in Vaporflys and then switched to other shoes got slower.

There were very few runners in our data who met this criterion: We counted just 24 such races. But these runners finished about 7 percent slower on average than they did while wearing the Vaporflys. (Of the 24 races, 17 races were slower, and 7 were faster.)"

Because it's the same device as before. I only have one name for it.

But it's not the same device, in removing your old operating system you've removed the device keys keybase uses for encryption.

The biggest ones produce over 5 megawatts at peak capacity, I think someone has built over 10 megawatts but I'm not sure.

5 megawatts is a pretty useless figure for most people to imagine, and I think imagining it in units of homes-powered isn't great either because we don't have a sense of the heat or kinetic energy equivalent because our homes are quiet machines. A 260 horsepower car (think new minivan) at full throttle is producing about .2 megawatts, so the worlds largest turbines are generating the same power as 10/.2=20 minivans at full power.

Another way to think of it is in terms of heat. A big stovetop burner will generate about 3000 watts of heat, so a minivan is like 65 burners at full blast, and a 10 megawatt turbine is like 3300 burners.

An anecdote and a poll. I grew up in India in middle class family where education was considered important. A recurring nightmare (autual dream I see during sleep) I see even in my adulthood is about me about to take an exam and not being prepared for it. I do not see this nightmare often but I still remember it since the amount of panic I feel when I see it. I discussed with my wife and she also have these nightmare of similar nature. I wanted to check whether anyone out here see this and whether it is more prevalent in culture like Indian culture or is it a universal phenomenon?

That happens to a lot of college graduates I know. They stopped for me around a year or so after graduating.

You can use "cd -" to go back to the previous directory.

$OLDPWD also holds the previous directory.
