This comment comes some 15 years late. Microsoft runs the biggest org on github and has open sourced a lot of their own code under permissive licenses.
IE has been dead and buried for ages. Edge doesn't have even close to the same market share and is based on Chromium.
They build more and more of their own UIs on Electron.
I honestly don't remember when they tried to snare someone to use proprietary extensions to something open. I probably have missed a few instances.
Long story short: MS isn't a saint. They are a business. And they have behaved relatively nice for so long that some young adults don't know any other side of MS now.

It's like they introduced a competition, but they forgot to tell the plebs that you don't need the images in their original size, just a 512x512 version. Which sped up the whole process... just as the bigdiks do it, but they let you suffer and bleed. Have fun.

I don't know. I have no comparison but it is common for crates to be released under MIT. I took over the maintainership from the original author so the license was already there. I rewrote pretty much everything so I guess I could try changing the license now but that's not something I wanna think about.
I do the work because I see it as payback for all the great open source software I use all the time.

While agents act on behalf of the user, they won't see nor click any ads; they won't sign-up to any newsletter; they won't buy the website owner a coffee. They don't act as humans just because humans triggered them. They simply take what they need and walk away.
