The AAA gaming economics are a different issue: budgets have ballooned so much that it's near impossible to hit breakeven.

The games you mentioned are extreme outliers (no one expected BG3 to do as well as it did), and there have been a number of studio-killing bombs this year.

Can you name them? I have a lot of anger at the AAA studios

Also not mentioned is the recent rise of Ad-Free ( yes completely AD-FREE as in not a single ad ever! ) platforms like KICK.com [1][2]

Amouranth used to stream exclusively on Twitch.com but now has moved mostly to Kick.com and streams the majority of her time there.

In this respect, Twitch's draconian content policing needs mentioning. People would receive week-long bans for unnamed reasons or super petty things. They rode the woke train as hard as they could and it was a sight to behold! They've recently slightly relaxed some of their disallowed content policies.

Why put "feeling unsafe" in scare quotes? There's a lot to feel unsafe about right now.

Class? Perhaps it has to do with the fact that many trusted municipal water systems have been reveales to have temporary or extended contamination?

I asked! These are New Yorkers, we have good water.

To your point though, there was an issue with lead in schools and in NYCHA that may be at play here.

You are both missing the 'faulty process' and 'faulty communications' options.

And:

- "bad parts from vendor" - "bad programming on torque wrench from MRP" - "insufficient training on process" - "tooling was programmed correctly but bad sensors" - "lube mislabeled for 3 days"

This is absolutely not some simple thing. This is why people don't take us seriously as engineers.

Why can't you drink tap water? I drink maybe 5 liters of bottled anything in a week.
local_crmdgeon · 2 years ago
There's a class thing to this - everyone I know who's working class refuses to drink tap water. Even if they're on a perfectly good system, it's 100% bottled water or soda all the time.

Was told that "tap water is for broke people"

Why are there bolts and machine screws in use in the first place?

The seating configurations for United and Alaska, the 2 major customers for this aircraft, don't require this plug-door feature. Structurally, for these large carriers, the plug door serves only as a fuselage weakness and failure point.

Why don't they just rivet it permanently to the fuselage and make it non-functional? Per the diagrams shown, it's a complex assembly that serves no purpose at all for these carriers.

(Apparently it was used as a cargo door to furnish the interiors, which seems like a trivial use case.)
