I think it's a complete tragedy that customers in the US can no longer get health information from 23andMe.

I started a genome software company that primarily targets the academic research market, but we recently adapted our software for 23andMe users: https://www.enlis.com/personal_edition.html

I don't mind paying more, but what is the way to get exome sequencing in the States today? There are some Australian companies using Illumina equipment and offering it for about $1,500, but is this possible in the States as well?

Pretty much, yes. It has an API as well. You have to accept the root certificate of the authority you create in the browser and then you don't have do accept all self-signed certificates based on it. It's aiming to ease development, it's not to be used in production.

Most likely, Twitter would not look the same anymore after that. It would morph into a totally different product. So I understand that such a step has to be well thought through.

Well, a new limit of, let's say, 500 characters will make a huge difference! Still short form, yet, not need to be abbreviating and using broken English, skip punctuation, etc. just to fit into the artificial 140 limit!

I know. I've discussed this with the author, there are some IP issues he's trying to resolve. Outside of this obstacle, his desire is to open-source it.

Yup! I don't use Twitter, because I'm tired of abbreviating. I've heard all the made-up motives from people both inside and outside of the company but for many years already nobody has been using Twitter via SMS! Also, for years, phones have been splitting long messages into multiple short ones if necessary and composing them back as well. Remove the limit and save Twitter, please!
