It is birthplace, so if you were a Bengladeshi national but were born in CH, you would fall into the Swiss queue (which is the "everyone else" queue).

If this is you, congratulations, this is the shortest possible line. Though, if you were Bengladeshi-born I think you may actually be in the same queue? The queues are India/China/Mexico/Phillipines/Everyone Else.

Personally naturalized via marriage a long time ago but the birthplace/nationality arb is super interesting!

Country of birth is the most important factor. Certain countries, most notably China and India, have significant backlogs and the process can take many years. For those not from a heavily backlogged country, the ways to speed up the green card process are limited, including, during the PERM process, commencing recruitment when the prevailing wage request is submitted (and not yet approved) and using recruitment to cover multiple positions/employees. And then, once the PERM application is approved, using premium processing to accelerate the approval of the next step, the I-140 petition.

Wait -- is it country of birth or country of citizenship? If I was born in Switzerland but held a Bangladeshi passport could I possibly use the former's priority queue?

I am not sure but it does seem that apple's stock price has taken a hit.

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/

Maybe somebody could enlighten me but the off hours part shows -2.3%, is that a correction because people are losing faith in apple or what exactly? and would these off hours loses get converted to on hour losses or what exactly? (Sorry I could ask AI but I might as well ask here as well)

So I had done some calculations and please correct me if you think I am wrong but at 4:00 pm USA time (EDT?) the stock was selling at 213.5 open (I am not sure what the differences b/w open, close etc. are , I am not a finance guy) but it went from 213.5 open to 207.8 right now

Taking the % lose from its peak just at 4 PM EDT & multiplying it by its market cap? 3.19Trillion(1- 207.5/213.5 ) is 89_648_711_944 , ie. 89 Billion $.

So from my understanding Apple lost 89B $ in like a span of 2 hours (4PM EDT to 5:10-ish PM EDT which is the approx current time while writing this post)

That sounds REALLY BIG. Like I used to think damn Trillion $ are a lot but if such a case can cause apple to lose 89B$ in span of 2 hours then either I am doing some calculation wrong or this case has a truly big gravity that its worth not to just skim over it I guess and truly read it at detail I suppose.

Just my two cents..

After hours market prices aren't indicative. I'd wait until tomorrow mroning to see what happens.

I've suspected that there are consistency issues on RDS for a while now: if you push large quantities of data (e.g. 1MM+ rows) into a database quickly and then try to read the same data out on another connection, you'll periodically get null return sets.

We've worked around it by not touching the hot stove, but it's kind of worrying that there are consistency issues with it.

This is right up there with the futures trader who accidentally ordered a barge full of coal delivered to his manhattan office.
kchoudhu · 4 months ago
As good as the DailyWTF story is, it's not real. Coal is unfortunately cash settled.

Even oil, which is physically delivered settles physically in discrete locations. It would be pretty funny if someone delivered tankers full of oil to your office though lol.

Are the costs of this 13 years and counting expense tab added to the cost of electricity generated by nuclear power plants in any way?

Seems to me like it should, so that generations-long decisions are not made from overly optimistic numbers.

kchoudhu · a year ago
Japan has (within reason) concerns other than the total cost of electricity: having to haul in coal, oil and LNG over an ocean contested by an increasingly hostile neighbor must be very worrying to them.

The people I want to serve work hard for not much money and deserve better than what the financial system is currently offering them. If you are interested in making a difference drop me a line at kamil at openrelay dot io

Edit to add: this isn't a crypto product, sorry: the plan for now is to thrive within the confines of traditional financial systems.
