The data query tool linked at the bottom of the post doesn't work for me. Cloudflare shows error 600010, whatever that means. Nice that there is "no login required" but if it did, or allowed that option, maybe it wouldn't need an algorithm to decide whether my traffic is abusive because you could block abusive accounts instead

You've expressed my thoughts to a tee. I will start exploring Astro and see what the migration process is like. Many devs questioned my usage of Nuxt over Astro to begin with, so this is a good opportunity to learn.
jt_b · 8 months ago
Astro is nice, but its a different model than Nuxt, more suited to static sites.

Feels like Cloudflare would have been a much better alignment, given they had some great integrations already.

Hope they are able to maintain some level of autonomy.

GIS is truly impressive from a user's perspective: intuitive, powerful, and full possibilities. However, from a sysadmin's point of view, hosting an ArcGIS Enterprise setup - the market leader in this space - can quickly turn into a complex and frustrating experience.

Fortunately there are a lot of great alternatives to the ESRI lock-in, and FOSS has a long and rich tradition in Geo.

You don't need to know what branch you're on before running commands? I cant tell you the number of times ive been on the wrong branch executing stuff.

oh-my-zsh default prompt mode for git branches is for me! super clean. need to familiarize myself with some more of their shorthand commands.

Why would they blink when they know they are safe from a boots on the ground invasion for the forseeable future?

I think they probably like having an GDP 25x larger than North Korea's. Gets a lot harder to export your products around the world when you're squared off against the US.

It would be interesting to see how much you can push this. At $0.36/million requests, this would be $0.36 for 90PB of data. Serving 90PB from AWS S3 would cost over $5M if my calculations are correct. Has anyone tried serving petabytes of data from R2?
jt_b · 9 months ago
Not sure about petabytes, but pretty sure Brandon Liu of Protomaps is hosting all the daily protomaps extracts via R2. Not sure what the egress usage is.

I feel like I'm being mocked for having a widescreen monitor.

document.querySelector(".my-auto").setAttribute("style", "text-align: left;");

I'm actually having fun reading it after applying that.

The ugliness scares most people away, or at least it doesn't accidentally lure them in.
