not just vibe coders, didn't some of these kids he hired have actual histories and alleged histories of cybercrimes?
jmye · 2 days ago
Yup, a guy who’s ketamined his brain cells to mush, leading a bunch of sociopathic criminals. Who, except literally everyone, could’ve seen this ending poorly?!

That's because it's not an effort to get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse. It's a scam to steal data and give Republicans something to say.

I mean, it’s also because rubes will buy anything they say solely because of one of the two guys saying it. It’s easy to tell a dumb lie when you know your fanbase won’t care and will repeat it as if it’s true.

What does that have to do with the post you replied to? Is your implication that young people can’t enter hospice or have terminal illness? Or are we just quoting random statistics without any regard to relevance whatsoever?

Products like this don't just appear in gas station coolers by themselves, they would have started by identifying a demographic first and then building a product specifically targeted to that audience. They decided to target younger-skewing men, and so they made an energy drink that's neon green and called it "Monster". If they had decided to target over-60 women they would have designed the product much differently.

This isn't just a reactive profile of who they think is buying the product, it's the blueprint for the product.

And regardless, I would tend to believe that a highly successful, very pervasive consumer product has at least some fucking clue who their customers are, unlike the random dude hacking their site who appears to think he’s an expert in everything because he understands some tech.

Not that HN would know anything about that.

If someone has a legitimate need, they will look for a solution in appropriate locations (directories, search, magazines, what have you) and do not need someone to scream their marketing blurbs into the void in hopes of being noticed.

Right??? Why did Uber ever advertise! Everyone who needed a cab but was tired of cab companies could’ve just like, searched the internet for “service to connect me with normal people who will take me places in their own car” which was also obviously a solution that existed and everyone would’ve known to search for!

Brilliant.

>There are groups I'm not part of. This makes me sad. I want to be part of those groups.

Yes, but that inherently dilutes the very conception of a group. This is pretty basic stuff. Groups must be exclusive or they have no meaning.

I understand this will make some people sad and, unfortunately, that's okay.

It makes me sad that I will never be Japanese. What a beautiful country. Man, am I sad. But that's alright, isn't it?

jmye · 15 days ago
“You don’t see me as a member of your specific ethnic group because I’m genealogically not” and “you don’t see me as a member or citizen of your country because we’re not genealogically the same” are not the same thing, and it’s deeply (and intentionally) dishonest to pretend they are.

Being an American, for instance, should not exclude anyone who wants to be a part of the group, and the only folks suggesting it should typically have one or two groups they specifically want excluded. That is obviously not all right, however much you’d like it normalized.

Sorry this is false. There are tons of reports of CPS investigating normal parenting practices or imposing invasive reporting plans and things like that. CPS in most jurisdictions is in fact overflowing with time and money, and is staffed with low intelligence nosy incompetent types that couldn’t get a better job. Search your social media of choice and you’ll find so many absurd examples.
jmye · 17 days ago
Man, your social media feed is largely bullshit. How have we gotten to a point where people are legitimately thinking “I saw a Tweet about it, so it obviously happened exactly as written, and no one has ever boosted infuriating content to make a buck”?

Like, is it a willful decision to not think critically about anything, ever?

Both this and the other Trump EO that came out today (requiring colleges to report detailed race data to ensure they’re complying with SFFA) are good ideas and democrats should steal them. Don’t let Trump bait you into supporting Wall Street debanking people for their political views. That’s a total loser issue.
jmye · 21 days ago
Why should banks be required to do business with you (for non-protected class reasons)? Why should Democrats want to make sure that colleges can ignore non-white and non-Asian applicants, regardless of potential ability? Why would Dems support any of this clear and obvious bullshit, that is solely being pushed to distract from other… issues the administration is having?

> But how would the average person access the text of the constitution?

Right, because the average person googles the constitution right away when they are arrested?

What are you going to do with this googled info? Show it to the officer and get released? What reality is this even?

Nothing on this website changes anything... so yes, you are being very successfully rage baited, to the literal max. Just look how outraged over nothing you are... getting all worked up over a website on a Wednesday afternoon. You'll probably stew on this all day, even complain to others about it.

Rage baited, indeed.

Five out of 46 administrations is "many?" But sure, I can see that you'd feel that way. I'm just saying it's a really silly thing to feel that way about, versus the many much better reasons for similar trepidation you imagine yourself escaping by avoiding the news.

“Caring about things is dumb” is such a lame response to “at least thirty years of government didn’t fuck this up, so why is this one so incompetent that it did.”

The language you use to dismiss the concern is certainly cute, but maybe put down the thesaurus for a bit. It’s not doing you the favor you think it is.
