haily commented on How Does MoviePass Make Money?   wired.com/story/moviepass... · Posted by u/dsr12

I think most people are missing the point here. MoviePass has many ways to monetize from begin to end. It currently has more then 1.5 million subscribers & growing very fast (fastest subscription service growth ever, even faster then netflix). Most people miss the opportunities MoviePass has. It will control the demand & distribution of movies through its subscribers. Movie theater goers have been declining year over year and MoviePass will help reverse this.

It currently makes money by

a) subscriptions $9.95/month b) $2-3 rebate per ticket contracts with about 1000 theaters (5 new contracts a week are signed) c) 20-30% of concession revenue with about 1000 theaters (5 new contracts a week are signed) d) Bought "America Animal" movie rights for North American release at Sundance Festival

I'm tempted to believe in this, I have had GERD for years only diagnosed about three years ago I have heartburn every day unless I eat bland food and small amounts of it.

I've tried ppi medication but it made me feel bad and never did anything to prevent it coming up my throat acidic or not and seems to have caused more problems than it solved I feel worse after having taken the ppi meds even a year after stopping them.

But for about the last week I've had a head cold and my heartburn disappeared completely. I didn't take any cold medication during my cold only one single regular Aspirin when I was at my worst (not good on my GERD ravaged guts).

I have no clue what fixed my GERD either it was just drainage from my cold (gross!) keeping my throat coated but I don't think so, maybe some part of my immune system revved up or overworked, microbes in my gut killed or good one flourished.

Although sadly my heartburn is coming back bit by bit each day, coughing, and a bit at night. I really would like to know if GERD is simply some immune response or microbe imbalance and why a cold caused the changes to it.

Have you tried drinking kefi daily? I find it helps.

What if, instead of "My dear daughter, Wait for me.", why not "My dear daughter, join me.". It's the journey. Take your daughter with you on your journey to build your experiences together. When she is ready, she will branch off to continue with her journey. She will then learn from you and take your grand children on her journey and so on...

Sometimes we are quick to judge without empathy and consideration for views that oppose our own. Even worse, some don't even make amendments when our views are proven wrong over time.

So, since the government is indeed collecting an enormous amount of data -- it definitely makes it 'harder' to stay truly anonymous -- but this is a much more anonymous solution than anything else as you are making it as difficult as possible:

- New phone numbers. - Different cell signal piggyback depending on where you're located. - 30 day cell tower location tracking / SMS storage / phone call storage -- so in the worst case scenario you've got 30 days of conversation / messages stored.

If an entity wanted to track YOU, they'd have to do voice analysis of every call in the country / region, look for specific writing patterns / keywords in your sms messages, and then try to match things up (this would be really difficult, even with lots of information to go from).

Anyhow, it's definitely not a perfect solution, but one that really helps protect privacy.

You should add a way to "recycle" the used phones. Maybe a trade in program?

1. Making it even more secure and harder to track. One phone can be used by many people.

2. Keep cost down for the physical device.

I wonder how many shares of Facebook are available to be bought in any market. If the shares are indirectly rationed by Facebook through their approval of any shares being sold, wouldn't this create an artificial limited supply of Facebook shares?

They sell more devices than Apple does right now.

You're right again. I guess the right question would be who is growing and who is shrinking.

Would tents strategically placed next to apartments with open wifi work?

Now we just need someone to build a phone without vomiting their own crappy interface all over it. The Nexus One is great, but can't we have a bit more choice than 1?
haily · 16 years ago
The Android Team should build skins/themes like Windows OS. So we have choices.

As a counterpoint, how many people can look at a Symbian phone and instantly recognize it as a Symbian powered device? Yet Nokia sells vastly more Symbian powered smartphone than Apple sells iPhones: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2010/5/21/smartphones-b...
haily · 16 years ago
You're right. Symbian does sell more devices when there were no real competition.
