I’m confused about how drivers are able to accept or not accept a ride based on price
gremlinsinc · 2 months ago
I drive for Uber sometimes I use an app where it'll automatically take an Uber and turn off Lyft and door dash.. when it meets a filter... for example: $1 per mile, 25 per hour avg, and over $5 minimum...

you can manually accept ones less than the filter... but it pops up a thing with all this data so you can make a decision whether it's worth it and while driving it's nice it turns the rest off so you don't have bad stats when they send you an offer and you don't take it because you couldn't turn it off yet....

it's $18 per month but worth every penny!

plus I just hit 1 button to login to every service...

Thanks for extracting this.

I always enjoy examples of prompt artists thinking they can beg their way of the LLM's janky behaviour.

> Critical UI Requirements

> Therefore, you SHOULD ALWAYS test your completion requests first in the analysis tool before building an artifact.

> To reiterate: ALWAYS TEST AND DEBUG YOUR PROMPTS AND ORCHESTRATION LOGIC IN THE ANALYSIS TOOL BEFORE BUILDING AN ARTIFACT THAT USES window.claude.complete.

Maybe if I repeat myself a third time it'll finally work since critical, ALL CAPS and "reiterating" didn't cut the mustard.

I really want this AI hype to work for me so I can enjoy all the benefits but I can only be told 'you need to write better prompts' so many times when I can't see how that's the answer to these problems.

if you hire someone are they going to always be right the first time you give them directions?
gremlinsinc commented on AGI is Mathematically Impossible 2: When Entropy Returns   philarchive.org/archive/S... · Posted by u/ICBTheory

This paper presents a theoretical proof that AGI systems will structurally collapse under certain semantic conditions — not due to lack of compute, but because of how entropy behaves in heavy-tailed decision spaces.

The idea is called IOpenER: Information Opens, Entropy Rises. It builds on Shannon’s information theory to show that in specific problem classes (those with α ≤ 1), adding information doesn’t reduce uncertainty — it increases it. The system can’t converge, because meaning itself keeps multiplying.

The core concept — entropy divergence in these spaces — was already present in my earlier paper, uploaded to PhilArchive on June 1. This version formalizes it. Apple’s study, The Illusion of Thinking, was published a few days later. It shows that frontier reasoning models like Claude 3.7 and DeepSeek-R1 break down exactly when problem complexity increases — despite adequate inference budget.

I didn’t write this paper in response to Apple’s work. But the alignment is striking. Their empirical findings seem to match what IOpenER predicts.

Curious what this community thinks: is this a meaningful convergence, or just an interesting coincidence?

does this include if the AI can devise new components and use drones and things essentially to build a new iteration of itself more capable to compute a thing and keep repeating this going out into the universe as needed for resources and using von Neumann probes.. etc?

Fortunately he left behind detailed instructions showing you how to make a Bob Ross original you can call your own

For someone not familiar with this culture, i for a moment thought the thread was talking about Sylvester Stallone.

RIP.

Was sly involved in the song superstition?

yeah, same thought. I'm 45... heard of the band but that's it.

Currently homeless, driving Uber and Lyft. I've fixed my mental health after a shit storm of life events, mostly using AI as therapist.

I'm going back to school soon for psychology (figure financial aid can also pay room and board).

I'm wanting to build a mobile journal app with a bunch of AI guided 'games' to help learn DBT skills or work out trauma or do Shadow work or just guided CBT for a purpose.

I've changed my MBTI from intp-t to enfp-a...(I find I revert sometimes when I don't feel safe)... in other words I've become a very outgoing people person at least I'm a lot less afraid in social situations or to act like a fool on the dance floor... etc...

I also want to write a book and do videos on hacking your brain using AI... nobody seems to be doing this... there's a lot of potential for this niche I think.

I fixed hobbies, depression, and social life, all that's left is physical and financial and those are kind of easy when emotions are in check.

Is there a reason you're hooked on the desktop computer? Maybe you invested a lot in it as a gaming setup? I'd offload it, get a laptop and you're then capable of charging at a library, working there or in the car, in a park, etc. If you're on the cusp of a worsening situation, gaming might be the least of your worries.

Lots of people live in vehicles quite intentionally. It's harder and very often not ideal, but I don't think it's your biggest issue here.

it's got PHP and tooling and Arch Linux it's just what I'm comfortable with but I've got a MacBook (someone gifted me one from this thread) so yeah I'll definitely be using that for freelancing soon.

where do you find the old ladies to rent from?

You need to trade in (or sell) your desktop for a dev-capable laptop my dude. You can't freelance tech using a desktop computer from your car, but you sure can from a laptop in a cafe, local library, church.. etc. You'll also need one anyway if you're going back to school.
gremlinsinc · 5 months ago
someone on here bought me a used MacBook. so yeah going to try freelancing that. I'll still do Uber (it's helped my mental health l but I don't want to rely on it and I want to save wear and tear on car so maybe just Saturdays...
