This is not only a privacy concern (in fact, that might be a tiny part since the code might end up public anyway?). There is an element of disclosure of personal data, there are ownership issues in case that code was not - in fact - going to be public and more.

In any case, not caring about the cost (at a specific time) doesn't make the cost disappear.

The point they are making is, that some people know that, and are not as concerned as others about it.

Bluey is the best children's cartoon of this generation. The art is a joy to see, being full of color and well-defined lines/objects, without being overwhelming. I sincerely appreciate the creator's resistance to engineer the show for maximum attention and, instead, focus on telling a good story with relatable characters. The show can move slowly when appropriate and isn't afraid to keep the scene mostly static. The music is great and well directed to capture meaningful emotional moments without being campy. The episode length of ~7 minutes is perfect, especially for families wanting to limit screen time, as it covers a quick breakfast/lunch (or laundry/dishes break) and provides a natural stopping point to move to the next activity. I can't praise it enough and just hope its success inspires more studios to avoid the brain-rot algorithmic-lead nonsense.

My only complaint is that I am a grown-ass man and shouldn't be tearing up every other episode of a children's cartoon...

My only complaint is the children’s bedtime story books are incredibly effective at delivering their core task - they deliberately draw the stories out so long that they put both parties asleep.

Why so much power for a simple NAS? Wouldnt a Pi5 be sufficient?
greggsy · 23 days ago
Pi’s are a pain when it comes to power, storage and expansion.

They’re hardly competitive on price compared to an old nuc too. Even a new N100 with ram and ssd can be purchased heaper than a barebones Pi 5.

I question what we’re learning of such value from a 2,500 year old corpse that warrants leaving this person outside of the ground.

Looks like a cross between a Rollie Egg Cooker and an Aeropress.

In fact, I think you could reproduce this invention using components of those two products.

Most hand related jobs upwards of $100 per 30 min

If this Robot hand can do those jobs we could see some industries take a hit

Sangean have been manufacturing several clear radios for the correctional industry for some time now.

Google ‘prison radio’ or ‘inmate radio’ for pictures.

I did this with some rando soil sensors on clearance from my local Jaycar (very popular store in Australia, similar to Tandy, Dick Smith, or Radio Shack when they were still around).

Anyway, it wasn’t in the library of known devices in RTL433, but I was really impressed that I was able to get it up and running with community tools and doco to parse and reformat the transmissions.

greggsy commented on JavaScript Trademark Update   deno.com/blog/deno-v-orac... · Posted by u/thebeardisred

Oracle, to my knowledge, does not profit at all off of the JavaScript name or brand. I don't see the purpose of defending this lawsuit. They have an opportunity to create some goodwill here, hold a press release, and say "We're gifting the JavaScript trademark to the developer community!" But instead they're defending something that they literally do not profit off of. It's absurd.

This is the wrong way to look at it from a business perspective. They don’t directly profit off licensing or support or anything like that, but they gain free advertising.

They gain absolutely nothing by handing over the name and brand - in fact they lose valuable brand recognition.

Obviously most people in the industry hate them with a passion (see this thread as evidence), but many see the association as evidence that they might at least have some expertise with that product set. I certainly don’t agree with their position, but it makes sense commercially.
