As a somewhat recent immigrant to Canada, would the consensus be that this applies here as well?

In my experience with both countries, American constitutional rights are stronger, but Canadian police are less corrupt (but universally unpleasant)

This feels like a ragebait comment and the entire story is clearly not being told.

It's part standard story for civil asset forfeiture.

AFAIK I know it is a "core activity" in one Abrahamic religion (Islam)—more so than in any other major religion.

A lot of Christians I know have done some sort of pilgrimage. Quite a few Buddhists too (most of those I know if you count short and easy trips).

I agree it is very common, but I cannot see a correlation between how ancient a religion is and how important pilgrimage is within in it.

There's a big difference in Christianity between Protestants and, for a lack of a better word, the Apostolic Churches (Roman, Greek, Oriental).

The later have a very rich culture of pilgrimages.

Yet despite these problems, the F-35 remains the most commercially successful airframe in the world, with over 670 sold, and 2,500 on order from US-allied countries all over the world. What could explain this sales pipeline, if the F-35 was the boondoggle this article implies it to be?
fusivdh · a year ago
There's no other fifth generation fighter available for export to the richest countries in the world?

Corruption to pass trials. Corruption to get sales?

No matter how much waste, a trillion dollars is bound to create something with some value?

It's junk, in the sense that we could have gotten a much better airframe for less sad money.

900MHz, 4GB and a DCD V12. Need to fix the PSU, but I love the Big Red look. And hey, it's quieter than a Tezro.
fusivdh · a year ago
I forgot I also have a V12, but no DCD. I also have a sound card, but its mot connected (my old PSU gave me problems as it died)

This is great. Perhaps it's finally time for me to upgrade from my SGI Fuel to a Linux system running MaXX: https://triosdevelopers.com/~jason.eckert/trios/SGI_Fuel.jpg
fusivdh · a year ago
You still use your fuel? Nice.

What upgrades do you have? I only have a 500Mhz cpu, but i have 4 Gb and I put in an ssd. I also put in a modern power supply which makes it a little less loud.

Man that thing is loud
