freefruit commented on Linda Yaccarino is leaving X   nytimes.com/2025/07/09/te... · Posted by u/donohoe

Linda's tenure was an overwhelming success if you judge it according to what her assigned goals probably were:

1) Moved X out of woke censorship into a highly liberal (in the permissive sense of the word) free speech platform, while at the same time...

2) Improved the X brand safety such that nearly all advertisers are back on the platform.

We forget how much at odds these two goals were a couple years ago, but the overton window has shifted a lot since then so it doesn't seem as big a deal.

Point number 2, was a great success with a controversial owner.

Bambu should be working on scaling their consumables and customer service, it takes weeks to resolve any tickets, 8 days to a first response has been normal for them.

What can't you fix? All the issues I've had you could find a video on YouTube on what to do.

Definitely not true! How did you get that impression?

I wouldn't be here if it were—my cofounder Scott and I made it to YC from way outside elite circles, US or otherwise. It's really important not to go for these demoralizing assumptions, lest they become self-fulfilling prophesies.

Here's some better information: if you can build, can make something people want, and are willing to be coached in the way that YC coaches founders, you have as good a chance as anyone at getting funded by YC. (And certainly a far better chance at not being overlooked for prejudicial reasons such as 'not from elite university'.)

You may not be wrong in general—it's clear that class divides are increasingly organized around educational divides—but IMO this is less true of YC than society at large and it's a big part of YC's business for it to remain so.

Edit: while I'm at it, something I wish more people would know is that if you apply to YC and get rejected, you should keep applying. Most YC startups didn't get in on their first try. If you do apply more than once, the key thing is to demonstrate progress since your previous application.

So: don't give up, and definitely don't give up before you start!

Or apply with something they are looking to fund. Then change your idea to what you really want to do when you get in. (This is what Tiktok told me to do)

I understand someone having the viewpoint of America first, look after home first and don't get involved in foreign wars. He however, seems to go way beyond this.

His latest tweet connecting the terrorist attack to Ukraine, with no evidence. Is just repeating the Kremlin talking points. For someone who should analytical, it is just strange.

The All -In pod, often tease him about being a robot. I genuinely believe he is on the spectrum.

I have never heard or read his words showing empathy, even for the terror attacks in Israel and he is Jewish.

Bunnings & Ikea recently stopped selling this product. My guess is Bunnings probably wanted to stop competition. So they probably lobbied the government for the full ban. After all, you can't have the competition selling a popular product that they don't. (Bunnings is like Australia's Home Depot or Lowe's)
