Hey everyone!

Placr CEO here . We are launching an app (Placr) that uses neural networks to change a background of your video selfies in real-time.

In Spring, 2016 we came out with an idea of a fun mobile app that would let users to change backgrounds of their video selfies. We wanted to let people place themselves wherever they want. As it often happens, it was just an idea and nothing more.

2 years later, we decided to finally give it a go. We challenged ourselves to ship it within a month. And after 4 weeks of hard work our MVP is here :).

If you are interested in trying it out please check out our ProductHunt page! At the moment, Placr is one of the featured products of the day. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback, and happy to answer any questions.

Hope you'll like it!

Hello I’m from Russia. And yes, local authorities started blocking telegram IPs. It doesn’t work without proxy/vpn.

In my case, proxy alone doesn't help. It only works with VPN now :(.

The first round of the fight is clearly won by telegram - roscomnadzor is perceived as a lumbering and inept gorilla whose actions harm innocent bystanders while telegram continues to work almost perfectly.

Next we will see how effective the deletion of the telegram app from the Russian app stores will be. Because of the centralized nature of the stores telegram can’t do much with it (they can try publishing clones of the client under unaffiliated entities, but apple and google can easily ban those too). Also it is rumored that the client uses push notifications to deliver proxy settings to devices and these also can be easily blocked by the store owners.

Interesting times.

We used Telegram as the main tool for our team's communication. We all applied proxy settings but it's almost impossible to work without a VPN enabled :(.

And yet, Telegram is still working without a proxy or vpn.

not everywhere, unfortunately. In my location it's almost impossible to use it without VPN. It also became difficult to send files through it.

Why block Telegram and not .. all the others? Whatsapp, Signal, Viber, ... Are they objecting to the use of encryption? Because everyone uses encryption almost all the time for everything everywhere. The cat has been well and truly released from that bag. Are they just going to turn off the internet altogether?

Telegram is not the most popular messenger in Russia. It's not even in top-3 as far as I remember. But it is widely used by people who tend to be opposite to the current government (young professionals). Also, there are a lot of anonymous Telegram channels curated by the opposition.

Another note app?

I get that this is a massive problem space but with dropbox, notion, google and loads of other companies working on the exact same thing.... I have a hard time understanding why Y Combinator accepts companies like these.

Either way, excited to try it out; sounds like you've put a lot of BS&T into this.

Hi guys!

An active user from Russia here :). We are a small team of seven developers and we already love Slite.

Before Slite we were using multiple Google Docs and Sheets files to manage our team notes, and Trello to write down decisions we made during team meetings. We would create a lot of files on Google and send links to each other using Telegram or email. It's OK if you don't have a lot of documents but after a few months of working it's became a pain in the ass to find some particular file (and it's actual, team-approved version).

On Trello we had this 'Notes' board, where we would put all the notes on product decisions and team meetings, but it quickly became overloaded with stuff and you would hardly find anything there.

That's why our team loved Slite so much. It's very simple yet powerful tool. I am not sure if there anything else like that. Probably yes. But we are absolutely satisfied with Slite and like that its team already reached out to us to gather our feedback :).
