eicnix commented on Ask HN: Any working Chrome extensions that delay loading of YouTube?    · Posted by u/whatever0124

I recommend 'Untrap for YouTube'[1] - it lets you selectively block YouTube UI elements. I use the free to redirect the homepage to my subscriptions feed and block all recommendation algorithms. Now I only see content from channels I've explicitly chosen to follow, with no algorithmic suggestions tempting me to spend more time on YouTube.

The pro version could also provide you the delayed launch that you asked for.

eicnix commented on Ask HN: How did you overcome social anxiety?    · Posted by u/needadvicebadly

First getting diagnosed, medicated and therapy. CBT is an amazing tool to help you rewire your thought processes and self image. (Access to therapy might vary based on your location/healthcare system but I cannot recommend it enough)

Therapy is only the first step to give you the capabilities to allowing you to effectively “expose” yourself to more social situations like many others have already commented.

On the first point, I don't see any particular reason why banking shouldn't go with cloud. Obviously banking has regulatory hurdles and things like availability are important so it'll require a specific architecture to help achieve that, but in general shouldn't be a problem.

On the second point, I'd say it depends on the level of granularity and detail. Here they're describing general mechanisms and they're not saying that this is all they do, so I think it's a good thing.

In general relying on obscurity for your security is a bad idea, as attackers will often find a way to get that information. That said I wouldn't give attackers a complete schematic of my env. and every protection, no sense in making things easy for them :)

All you need is a single disgruntled ex-employee to be bribed by hackers to reveal your complete security design.

I wonder wether this is actually intentional or just a bug in how screenshot information is saved.

I never heard of that. If he did indeed try, the sentencing is quite light.

Not surprising seeing how he bought this tank disarmed and was trying to rearm it.

Given the strong gun laws in Germany, I think he's lucky to get away with a fine for illegally acquiring a tank, anti-aircraft cannon, mortar, torpedo as well as an assortment of guns.

There is the "Kriegswagfenkontrollgesetz" (law to control weapons of war) that deals with owning and trading these kind of things.

In what scenarios does one work on data without any relations?

Honest question - perhaps I'm too used to think in SQL but even with e.g. a completely flat bunch of documents one usually needs at least access control (i.e. document owners, which is a relation).

Financial data

In basically every case you are querying all data for a symbol in a given timeframe and then process it further outside of the database.

I would look for a position as a lateral hire in MBB tech consulting e.g. McKinsey Digital or BCG Platinion.

Speaking from personal experience you'll learn a lot about communication and presentations.
