egberts1 commented on US admits liability in helicopter collision with American jet that killed 67   cnbc.com/2025/12/17/us-ar... · Posted by u/pseudolus

What's the inside angle on admitting liability like this? Keep it out of the courts and therefore no discovery and depositions that become public record?
egberts1 · 7 hours ago
Precisely. There is dubious flight hour qualification and going into a corridor at night.

And possible failure to adjust altimeter after a storm pressure front has passed, before takeoff.

I think the older veteran copilot is not forceful enough when he noticed as being too high.

Doesn't help that ATC was dismissive as well either due to ignorance or misunderstanding.

Regretfully, a veritable comedy of errors. Better to settle ouy of court than set a precedent.

I’ll just mention Foomuuri here. Its bit of a spiritual successor to shorewall and has firewalld emulation to work with tools compatible with firewalld
egberts1 · 7 hours ago
Foomuuri is ALMOST there.

I mean there are some payload over payload like GRE VPE/VXLAN/VLAN or IPSec that needs to be written in raw nft if using Foomuuni but it works!.

But I love the Shorewall approach and your configuration gracefully encapsulated Shorewall mechanic.

Disclaimer: I maintain vim-syntax-nftables syntax highlighter repo at Github.

This Monero mining also happened with one of my VPS over at interserv.net, when I forgot to log out of the root console in web-based terminal console to one of my VPS and closed its browser tab instead.

It has since been fixed: Lesson learned.

Unless these are new-construction luxury apartments (which the article doesn’t specify), no net migration is implied by a sale. Someone sold, someone bought. What a strange article.
egberts1 · 5 days ago
Packing bunk beds into apartments can easily allow mass migration into cities.

Not that I would want to.

I did absolutely nothing special, other than running the latest-and-greatest Windows 11 Enterprise, which is what we put on most of our laptops without any customizations other than "require 2FA and some antivirus and firewalling" via Intune.

And I just went into our Azure admin portal, looking for any AI goodies to enable, and... there just doesn't seem to be anything there? And we have an Enterprise P2 subscription, which is usually where all the good stuff is, but, yeah...

Enterprise version?

Well, I happened to think many companies woild configured copilot to be disabled: claims to prevent corporate secrets from leaking out or refusal to install internal closed-net Microsoft CoPilot server.

It's kind of wild reading the writings of a neoliberal who wishes that the clock could be turned back to the Clinton or Obama administration. I think the worst part is that his own cherry picked quotes don't really support his thesis. His quote from the Economist doesn't even really focus on free trade, it focuses more on how China is outsmarting Europe.

We'll pass on Clinton's NAFTA, in fact, we probably want to dismantle NAFTA nowadays given that it had created the massive Rust Belt in the Midwestern States of US.

Not less than 30 years ago, the British government took away firearms from her citizens.

Now, the British government are arresting her citizens for "unapproved" social media posts done.

How quickly that their government are devolving.

On Linux and what?

I use Signal on Linux, and Molly on my tablet. The issue I ran into was in trying to use Signal on both.
