I would have expected them to prefer a prepaid plan, they get all the money up front. Isn't that why they give you a discount, to encourage it? But I guess the discount is why they prefer a postpaid plan? Very odd, I wonder why the prepaid plans even exist, or are discounted.
derimagia · 3 years ago
Postpaid plans (the traditional ones which have contracts) usually give discounted or free phone upgrades while prepaid does not, so they can bring the price down.

jQuery is a bit of an interesting case, because it was so successful that it APIs got implemented in browsers themselves.

The advice that I’ve seen is that you should replace jQuery selector stuff with vanilla js and css whenever possible, and for a lot of projects that doesn't leave much.

In the past I recommended people to look at https://github.com/camsong/You-Dont-Need-jQuery. I haven't looked at it in a while but it looks up to date.

This could be very fun on those websites that give you a code snippet to copy and paste and install oh-my-zsh and friends.

If a you manually copy text then that's a "gesture". Sites are able to add malicious code when you copy text and this won't change as far as I know. In terms of security, it's horrible but not new.

The answer to this is the same as to all similar questions: why are you not blocking third-party content by default? To which the reaction tends to be that this is too difficult/too much hassle/should not be necessary. No, it should not be necessary just like locking your door should be necessary. Unfortunately, it is.

By the way, in this specific case another answer is "UberEats? Learn To Cook™!"

Looks blocked to me.

Using google to limit the results by date, it looks like Airbnb was the second to use the text, a few days after "WeChalet"

I'm also quite liberal with sharing my location (via Google maps) when traveling to meet up with friends, but it's always been a huge battery drain. I can't imagine what it's like being on all the time!
derimagia · 4 years ago
It's not a huge battery drain when I use it at all. Google already has a history of where you go so I don't even know why they would need more battery for it.

SSL/TLS does not prevent all MITM, it prevents unwanted MITM.

That’s news to me. Can you expand on this ? I always assumed if an API Endpoint for example is served on TLS it’s secure till the termination. No ?

derimagia · 4 years ago
In practice it's usually done with SSL termination (MITM but you have a trusted certificate)

Unquoted URLs with '?' work fine in bash. It's not like it's common to have files named with a URL that could confuse a glob expansion.
derimagia · 4 years ago
It's mainly the "&" which does it, which is pretty common.

From the page you linked to:

Windows 11 probably isn't supported!

While this tool doesn't work with Windows11 it's pretty useful if you're still on Windows 10 (or earlier). Another tool I wholeheartedly recommend is the 7+ Taskbar Numberer [0]. This should be default functionality built into windows but I'm happy that someone took the time to build it.

I haven't tried it since I don't use Windows 11 but I believe it's supported
