Worse is the Git UI, where random English words that seem to have a clear meaning in the context of source control don't do at all what you think they do, or five different things, or are really just a bunch of other commands wrapped together for less typing (like "pull").

I would rather have fantasy names than wrong names.

I'd rather say the zenith was 8.1 which was not very widely used. 8.5 did add some nice gimmicks like the app switcher palette but for some reason it felt way slower than 8.1.

8.1 was peak MacOS Classic for me as well. 8.5 was like Windows 98. Just added stuff that made it slower.

Sounds like ASP.Net Web Forms! Except it would fall apart anyway when you would reload!

If I would work at AOL I would start polishing up my resumé. They usually fire 80% after acquisition.

"At the end of July, Amazon reported second quarter results which beat Wall Street expectations on several counts, including a 13% year over year increase in sales to $167.7bn (£125bn)."

The stock-owning class is in a boom. The working class is in a recession.

(People who have stock-market investments and need to work for a living are somewhere in between.)

The average of one billionaire gaining £10M and a hundred middle-class folks losing £100k is solidly positive, so this looks like a "growing economy" to many of the usual metrics.

I am not sure whether the people who are benefiting from all this have noticed how often this sort of dynamic in the past has led to torches and pitchforks and the like.

Is that an increase in sales, or just everything getting more expensive?

Parts 2 and 3 are password protected, with no obvious hint how to obtain a password. For patreons only or something like that?

For what use case? I doubt the target user for the air would need anything more than what USB 4 + external SSD can make up for.

Running Xcode

You can use it as a glorified internet terminal with some light office apps within 256GB.

But it’s a pain in the ass to swap applications constantly, clear caches, delete large files and so on once you exceed those use cases.

512GB is a bit better, but then I shouldn’t have multiple toolchains or other large applications installed, multiple versions of Xcode, etcetera.

Why would you choose XLR as a connector for an application like this? Why choose one of the most common connectors you’re likely to see in an environment where someone will be mixing audio for a completely incompatible application? Hope the devices can handle accidental 48V phantom power without damage.

The audio world has history here. A simple TSR audio jack can be used for either stereo or balanced audio, headphone or mic or (multiple) line levels, hi-Z instruments, two incompatible MIDI (digital) connectors, multiple incompatible foot controller connectors, etc.

XLR is balanced, meaning you can transport a voltage accurately over a longer distance.

There is a mirror voltage on a second line that is mirrored and summed with the first again at the receiving end.

All noise picked up underway will affect both lines fairly equally, so the reversed line has the same noise as the normal line.

The noise will be inverted and summed with the regular noise, theoretically nullifying it completely.
