I saw the graphs of some silver mining stocks and it seems to just follow silver price, why don't just buy silver then?
czechdeveloper · 13 days ago
Mini stocks were traditionally used as way to invest in asset as a security. But currently with all the ETFs that are backed with physical asset itself, I'd choose that way.

Holding asset yourself (gold) causes logistical issues and massive buy/sell split on your side, but it has some advantages too.

I'm kinda new into economy crashes, was a kid in 2008, is there a way to protect of it?
czechdeveloper · 13 days ago
Assets traditionally used for such hedge are already massively inflated (look gold an silver price charts), so I'm not sure it's worth it.

This all depends on what timelines you work on, how many assets you are trying to protect.

Alternatively you protect yourself by lowering your dependence on steady income.

Hypothesis: This feature is actually a very serviceable way for a small business or individual to have a branded email address on very cheap email hosting, while getting Gmail features for free. Google wants such people to be paying for Google Workspace if they don't want to be advertising the Gmail brand on their address.
czechdeveloper · 4 months ago
They did the same with free version of Google Workspace. It's just no longer free.

Agree, one MCP server per API doesn’t scale.

With something like https://nango.dev you can get a single server that covers 400+ APIs.

Also handles auth, observability and offers other interfaces for direct tool calling.

(Full disclosure, I’m the founder)

czechdeveloper · 8 months ago
Nango is cool, but pricing is quite high at scale.

Sorry I’ve been out of the industry for the last year or so, is this madness really what people are doing now?
czechdeveloper · 9 months ago
My daily job by now is massively using AI to develop AI agent designer, which means a lot of stuff like this.

I really did not even want this, it just happened.

Thanks, just added Pongo to the NoSQL section of my "Postgres Is Enough" gist:

I suggest you add https://github.com/tensorchord/pgvecto.rs for vector search as well
czechdeveloper commented on Why we no longer use LangChain for building our AI agents   octomind.dev/blog/why-we-... · Posted by u/ma_za
czechdeveloper · 2 years ago
I used langchain in one project and I do regret choosing it over just writing everything over direct API. I feel their pain.

It had advantage of having standardized API, so I could switch local LLM to OpenAI and just compare results in a heartbeat, but when I wanted anything out of ordinary (ie. get logprobs), there was just no way.

I feel that bidirectional charging is the EV feature that most consumers don't know that they want.

My current vehicle is fine, but when I'm in the market.

I want an EV/PHEV vehicle that has enough power output to entirely power up my home, and serve as energy storage for solar. It avoids the need for a IC generator, and a power wall.

They are a powerwall on wheels. When then battery age out in 10 years, you swap the vehicle.

Gensets and in-home battery storage seem very redundant, when a bidirectional charging PHEV can do both.

I've entertained the idea of picking up a Prius and hacking the electronics to act on this.

czechdeveloper · 2 years ago
Vehicle by definition can't be connected to the house constantly. I can imagine this lowers need for house battery size, but not need for it's existence. House power consumption is very random.

> how Russia will crumble just any day now (TM)

Have you ever thought about what Russia's influence in the AI sector would be by now if they would have focused on developing it instead of starting a war? Developing it while pretending a peaceful cooperation with the West?

It might well be that China supports Russia's war effort so much because it knows that this way Russians will have zero time and resouces to focus on being an AI leader, and through it, a threat to China.

The biggest win for the US and China is that Russia will now never be at the cutting edge in AI development. The longer this war goes on, the better it will be for both the US and for China.

Even Europe will be more advanced than Russia during the next couple of decades.

czechdeveloper · 2 years ago
This sounds so random. Did Russia ever proved they can do AI in any significant capacity?
