Do you know where the 6-month requirement (rumor?) is from? Reading over https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter... section C states
"...there are two ways outlined in the statute in which the continuity of residence can be broken:
The applicant is absent from the United States for more than 6 months but less than 1 year; or The applicant is absent from the United States for 1 year or more."
Is this only for citizenship/naturalization and not to maintain a green card?
I'm a US citizen and my wife has a green card. We like to travel extensively, but feel limited by the need to be in the US for at least 6 months out of the year.
In an ideal world, we could get a digital nomad visa in Portugal and my wife and I could live and work there while we wait out some of the chaos that seems to be occurring in the US.
But, we're not sure if we can live/work in Europe while simultaneously fulfilling the green card requirements. Do you know if there's an exception for cases like this?
Where I've found the most success with local models is with image generation, text-to-speech, and text-to-text translations.
All you have to look at is Svelte, which Vercel hired all the developer of, and that turned out to be a great thing. Svelte and SvelteKit are better than ever and nothing they have done since has shown to be forced by Vercel.
I looked over your careers page and see all of your positions are non-remote. Is this because of limitations of working on local-first software require you to be in-person? Or is this primarily a management issue?
I don't think this is true.
My Claude Code can:
- open a browser, debug a ui, or navigate to any website
- write a script to interact with any type of accessible api
All without MCP.
Within a year I expect there to be legitimate "computer use" agents. I expect agent sdks to take over llm apis as defacto abstractions for models, and MCP will have limited use isolated to certain platforms - but with that caveat that an MCP-equipped agent performs worse than a native computer-use agent.
These are just tools Anthropic provides for you. Just like the tools a non-Anthropic service provides through their MCP server.
A community-led effort of tool creation via MCP will surely be faster and more powerful than waiting for in-house implementations.
* a sleep tracker. I love AutoSleep - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/autosleep-track-sleep-on-watch...
* Any kind of white noise. I use an air purifier at home, and a little pocket size white noise machine when I travel.
* find and eliminate any noises in your home. Computers, fridges, squeaky doors, etc.
* find and eliminate any lights. Especially stupid power and status LEDs. Bedroom should be pitch black at night. Electrical tape works well for this.
* Blackout curtains
* cheap eye mask
* Magnesium Glycate supplement
* Earplugs- https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0015TBGR6
* And finally, a recent addition that I’ve fallen in love with is sleep ear buds: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DT9GBFQ2
Although, I would wait on getting sleep ear buds, Anker just announced a new model with ANC and a similar price.
