Yeah, probably a good idea to remove it since i use github everyday and have no idea what a toast is .

Taking away Emacs may just lead you to procrastinate on something different, not work on something productive. So, I'm not sure that this is a tool problem or a personal problem.

Would be fun to weight each language by average number of stars, but normalize by repository count.
Data analysys without adjusting groups by popularity is a bit lame.
What statistic are you proposing? Number of repos / avg stars ?
Do we really hold editorials to the same standard as the rest of the news? These are opinion pieces, you should expect bias, no?

Yeah it died off sadly. Had so many good news discussions back then. Still miss the buzz of downloading a new batch of messages.
I used Gmane[1] to access mailing lists as newsgroups, which I've always thought was a much better fit.
Alas as with all good things that was shut down also.
News.gmane.io is up. I use it daily to track a few projects.

I love and use R, but it never became the dominant ML in part because it has three (or more) different object systems and many libraries sort of use their own style.
This makes it seem a bit disjointed, in a way that other languages don’t.
The R community should have anointed one object system and made tidyverse a core part of R.
All that said, R is fantastic and the depth of libraries is extensive. Libs are often written by the original researchers that develop the method. At some academic institutions an R package is counted as a paper.
I have a feeling that most data scientists using R have no need to touch any of the object systems, hard to believe that would be a deal breaker.
I agree though. Hope this is successful and they keep building awesome open-source tools.
