Thanks! The original goal of this was to make printable maps really easily, so I haven't focused too much on interactive stuff like character tokens or fog of war. However, you can easily add your own stamps (there's a button at the end of the list, or if you click the current stamp, there's a big button on the popup), and stamps are easy to drag around, so that could be a solution for you there.

In regards to the dice, do you mean an actual dice roller, or just stamps of different dice?

This looks to be a mapping tool rather than a full virtual tabletop. You could use this to export a map and use it with roll20 or foundry or a big printout or whatever you like.

Maybe one could use the option -ffixed-reg and put different threads in different compilation units with different options. Even so, one would not be able to use the standard library, since it is not compiled with the right options, and even custom functions would have to be compiled separately for each thread. It would be a lot of hassle, but it might work.

If you are gonna go through all that work with this chip in particular, you'd probably be better off putting four of them on one board. It's all kinda moot with more powerful chips available for cheaper anyway.

I wish GitHub Actions had a mechanism for authenticating to third-party services without secrets.

It could be as simple as calling a metadata API only available from inside a GitHub Actions container and obtain a oauth2 token/JWT for an external audience.

This would be great. Then we could reliably use something like vault to store secrets with individual acls per-workflow, and have reasonable confidence that only that single workflow can access them.

Let's jump to the conclusion here that Russia is still meddling in American politics, society and culture.

What I cannot believe is how the USA still allows this after all the country has been through with the current administration, investigations, impeachments.

USA's most important characteristics: openness, freedom, independence are just tools and weapons used against us. And we never learn...

While the current administration is turning a blind eye and I wish they wouldn't, the Russian connection here was only discovered after many layers of digging, and is still just conjecture.

After a few more iterations, they will learn how to close the gaps and be more and more untraceable. I don't know how it is possible to combat that.

Seems like it’d be a consulting opportunity. Watch the traffic, identify companies that need help reconfiguring their domain, and contact them.

Although I suppose to the recipient of such an email it might sound like an extortion racket.

"Yeah, we know it is wrong, but that single decision made 10+ years ago is too hard to change now without unknown side effects. Microsoft owns it now, so nothing too bad will happen"

I'm not sure how widespread this will be, but it will be interesting to see the impact on commercial real estate in SF and NYC where empty storefronts are already a major issue.

I'm imaging a lot of businesses were barely scraping by before the shelter-in-place.

We might see a huge increase in empty storefronts after this passes.

Hopefully the landlords realize there is not going to be anybody lining up to take over these leases if they evict. Forgiving a couple months so a business doesn't have to close is almost certainly the shrewd business choice as well as the moral one.

While your point is valid, it also illustrates how the U.S. subsidizes European entitlement programs by implicitly reducing those countries’ defense spending. If the U.S. were to cut back on defense, European countries would have to cut back on social welfare programs.

There is no minimum number of missiles that must be produced no matter what. I think op was simply suggesting that fewer missiles total should be made across the board.

I use Rover all the time, we have had a number of dog sitters offer themselves as a personal dog sitter off the Rover app for a small discount.

We always politely decline because of the layer of perceived security Rover offers with their insurance.

captncraig · 6 years ago
I've offered to pay the person who watches my dog directly, and she declines exactly because of the value add of Rover insuring her. Seems a fair model.

Expanding other DNS record names isn't very helpful either. I know what a Canonical Name for something is, but CNAME seems clearer, Mail Exchanger definitely isn't a helpful way to think about what MX records are for...

PTR and TXT aren't initials they're just short for "pointer" and "text" neither of which is much help divining what they're actually used for, and presumably AAAA doesn't actually stand for anything at all (?) other than it's four times bigger than the A record.

captncraig · 6 years ago
4 A's for ipv6 of course, and 1 A for ipv4. How could that possibly be confusing?

Had I been given a vote we would be using AAAA and AAAAAA records.
