I'll checked it and you are right. It is just law and practical not done.

But what is worse: Law which does not matter, because the elite will ignore it anyway or threatening gay men to kill them but currently not doing tit.

anyway, not a place a emigrate.

I agree, without even talking about gay rights, I think both the UAE and Qatar have a legal system and an immigration system I wouldn't want to be subjected to.

Generally true for most of the world outside of the West

There aren't any examples for Dubai (afaik), on record. In the UAE, 2015 was the last execution for homosexuality. There was a deportation in 2017 for maybe cross dressing?

Either way, I would consider the UAE an exceptionally unsafe place to visit.

Any source for the 2015 case? All I found was executions of pedophile rapists

The UAE still murders gay men just for beeing gay. Besides the lack of morality this affects 7 % of all men worldwide.

Im not sure if UAE really be an exciting place and thus would someone migrate to it if you care about culture and stuff.

All gulf states have abysmal gay rights, but are you sure they are executing gay men?

Huh. Why do they need to anticipate protests? Why can't they simply respect the right of the people to assemble and complain? The only thing that's alarmist is all of the actions performed by ICE.
breppp · 3 days ago
Presumably being prepared for an incident will reduce the chance that due to surprise that incident will be handled incorrectly

If you ask me, all US law enforcement are very trigger happy, but I always assumed it is a two-way street as in, more people in US are armed and try to shoot law enforcements than in other countries

A bit of an alarmist title. They would be negligent if they didn't.

Hopefully they are able to anticipate protests and handle these without getting anyone shot. A good part of this is intelligence, and reading reddit is not a very invasive type of intelligence.

Gamecopyworld… now there’s a name I have not heard in a long time.

I feel the same though. My only complaint when Adblockers fail is that I have to scroll so much to read some articles on some sites. Sure, there may be some level of subconscious registration occurring in my brain for maybe the company logo, but it’s usually minimal.

Very interesting. That document in particular seems to be an interview of A. Acosta by the DoJ from 2019. But what reason would the FBI have for pretending it's a scanned document, if it is genuine? Perhaps there's some aspect of Epstein's deal with Acosta that they'd rather not reveal to the public?

I am only guessing that they had to remove the document from a classified network in a way where data won't possibly leak

"The Economist, a journal that speaks for the British millionaires" - Lenin

Guess the only thing that's changed is inflation.

breppp · 7 days ago
The context of the quote was criticism of the Economist pacifism, while Lenin was trying to use the war to instigate a revolution that will end with the deaths of millions

Does anyone have a link to a good political model for Iran?

This looks maximally stupid given the American hardware in the region. But there may be internecine angles I’m missing. (Which factions benefit from American air strikes?)

I do protest the massacre, but I don't know what to expect as a result. What do I ask our gov. to do?

Sanction them? To stop sending them weapons? Isolate them diplomatically?

Surprisingly, all is done already

breppp · 14 days ago
That's a pretty self defeating approach that in general is not compatible with protests of any kind (Israel included). I don't think there were any protests in the history of the world that couldn't have died using the logic of "nothing will change"

As long as Iran has multiple countries it can sell its oil, there is still pressure to apply

The real reasons there are no protests are in my opinion the same ones people generally suspect
