I wanted to make an app to make job searching easier. It's a pain in the ass on both side and imo current tools on the market suck.

When I was a kid, I sold most of my old computers and game systems to get new ones. I wish I hadn’t done that. That stuff would be awesome to have now.

I thought the same and bought a few older systems. Now they gather dust on a shelf, because I got bored of them after a few hours. But at least the feeling of need is gone, I guess?

Mine are still off charts. I had 15 reach out today, alone. Currently have interviews at Github, Google, Stripe, and Reddit.

How does one get to the point where they get so much inquiries?

The go version seems to be missing timeouts. There is none by default and the --connect-timeout flag is not setting one either.

I went to go learn more about eBPF, but the ebpf.io site reads like a sales pitch. "Revolutionary technology", "The possibilities are endless, and the innovation that eBPF is unlocked has only just begun", "revolutionary new approaches", "unprecedented visibility".

I know I may be a curmudgeonly old fart, but to echo clktmr's comment, in this case, it seems like a glorified strace(). It also seems like a lot of hype for something that seems to have potential to have lots of unintended consequences.

I've written my BSc thesis on Kubernetes bandwidth management with eBPF a year ago. This is exactly what I felt trying to research this technology. Countless blog posts about how great eBPF is, close to none useful resources... And from what I've seen since, it's only gotten marginally better.

As someone who's partially deaf, I really appreciate camera on. It's a lot easier to understand people. I actually like Zoom meetings more than F2F at times, simply because everyone (with a camera) is equal - I see all their faces (and mouths) the same. F2F? Masks cover up faces, and we all have to stand far apart - horrible conditions for someone HoH.

I'm completely deaf and I can only recommend transcripts. Both zoom and teams have built-in transcription systems (though you have to enable them) and there is also an Android app called Google live transcribe. The former two work the best since everyone has a mic to their mouth and their voice never mix before going through the transcription system.

I haven't read the article to the end, but many of the "footguns" the author talks about could be avoided by simply reading this document: https://golang.org/doc/effective_go . It's pretty old already, but still valid, and emphasizes some of the ways Go is different from other languages. So more or less exactly what this article is doing...

More like the go tour, which is about the most basic introduction a go developer can get.
