bearjaws commented on Florida lawmaker floats ban on HOAs amid growing backlash   tampabay28.com/news/state... · Posted by u/bilsbie

There will need to be some sort of carve out for towers, condos, townhomes etc.

I cannot imagine running a building without an HOA, or some form of it. Who pays for the external repairs? Who pays for shared staff?

AC units for a highrise are $2-5M, who is saving for that?

This is just typical lawmaker BS, "oh I am going to do away with it", no real plan.

If anything just remove the HOA bylaws that are clearly violating peoples rights, like not being able to have cars in your drive way or only display flags certain ways.

The FAQ answers why this exists when macOS has a similar built-in feature:

> Optimized Charging, a feature that is built into MacOS, aims to ensure the longevity and health of your battery. It does so by "delaying charging the battery past 80% when it predicts that you’ll be plugged in for an extended period of time, and aims to charge the battery before you unplug," as explained in Apple's user guide.

> Additionally, Optimized Charging uses machine learning to decide when the battery should be held at 80%, and when it should become fully charged. If your Mac is not plugged in on a regular schedule, optimized charging will not work as intended.

> This app is a similar alternative to Optimized Charging, giving the user control over when it is activated, what percentage the battery should be held at, and more.

Yeah I have found my MBP at 100% far too often, every now and again I peak and it says "holding charge".

I don't leave my laptop plugged in 100% of the time, however it is plugged in ~70% of the time and I never discharge it that much when it is unplugged. So this little app is perfect for me.

Seems Apple still has work to do on their algorithm, it could easily keep it at 80% and I would never get below 20%.

with web search, is knowledge cutoff really relevant anymore? Or is this more of a comment on how long it took them to do post-training?

Falling back to web search is a crutch, its slower and often bloats context resulting in worse output.

Double agents inside a company are here to stay, if it wasn't offshore it would only be a matter of time until onshore staff are convinced to work for an enemy state.

It's just icing on the cake that your adversaries can get paid to hack you.

RIP ~30 startups.

I was always into programming, and am a self taught dev. I used to write Runescape macros in Pascal and then Java, had an internship at a CD & DVD driver company (used by iTunes and many others) and got to work on automation of burner testing.

But 2008 hit, job market was terrible and I ended up working at a computer repair store chain while trying to pay my way through college until 2011, where I got a LAMP dev job for a large travel website. I dropped out of college at that point and haven't looked back.

I got to program for a bit over 10 years before moving into leadership, selling two startups along the way.

Try reducing temperature. The default of 1.0 is sometimes to "creative". Setting it to 0.5 or somesuch should reduce events like you described.

Was already running .1 or .2 because I didn't want it to deviate far from source content.

Doing a project to migrate from one LMS to another, I put ChatGPT in the middle to fix various mistakes in the content, add alt text for images, transcribe audio, etc.

When importing the content back into Moodle, I come to find that one of the transcripts is 30k+ characters, and errored out on import.

For whatever reason, it got stuck in a loop that started like this:

"And since the dawn of time, wow time, its so important, time is so important. What is time, time is so important, theres not enough time, time is so important time"... repeat "time is so important" until token limit.

This really gave me a bit of existential dread.

It's sad how many younger people fall for grifters on Twitch.

The reality is, almost nobody on Twitch like Pirate software is likely, to put it nicely, embellishing their career.

Someone as accomplished as he claims would not be streaming, because their work is typically rewarding both in terms of day to day challenges and pay.

To actually start a career streaming, you basically have to be "unemployed" for 1-5 years. For anyone making real money, the decision is easy, they simply won't stream.
